Was suppose to be working but somehow managed to find myself stretched out on the Oakville pier soaking up a beautiful Friday afternoon. Funny how that can happen.

A declared weed across Australia, Echium plantagineum, commonly known in Australia as Salvation Jane or Paterson's curse, depending which part of the country is a species of Echium native to western and southern Europe (from southern England south to Iberia and east to the Crimea), northern Africa, and southwestern Asia (east to Georgia) It has also been introduced to Australia, South Africa and United States, where it is an invasive weed. Due to a high concentration of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, it is poisonous to grazing livestock, especially those with simple digestive systems, like horses. However, the flowers are very pretty so it receives a mixed reception.
The Dutch branch of the Salvation Army started 125 years ago....
Please no BIG glossy invites and awards!
With the portable tram layout being only eight feet in length, it's been quite a task to choose the buildings that I wanted to show. At one end just before the inevitable rail over bridge I had a pair of semidetached houses, which should probably have been part of a longer terrace. The buildings in this position have to accommodate a hidden tram track that runs through them(!) I realised that a new project - a Salvation Army Citadel could be squeezed into the available space, and this is the result.
An interesting building frontage with some nice detail. Would the Salvationists have been happy to be so close to the 'demon drink' though?
Let them praise His name in the dance: let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meek with salvation.
Psalm 149:3-4
Two more photographs of the streets of Chesterfield. Chatsworth Road contains a lot of shops and cafes but at the West Bars end are two shops that occupy modern almost 'brutal' architecture The Salvation Army is in the old LIDL supermarket and Matalan took over the B&Q shop.

The more I learn about myself, the more I fear myself. I’m told I should remain neutral. A Switzerland of the mind.
I don't want nobody to get killed
I'll come and get you
I am always ready to fight
So don't take all of the blame we were all swept away
Don't take all of the weight. You always do
There will always be something you cannot control
We will overcome. Your salvation has begun
