Sailor Mars: ...

Sailor Mercury: Your turn SailorMoon...!?

Sailor Moon: Hai! Mercury, Moon Healing Escalation

(Wrong quote xP before lol)

Ballpoint pen sketch

When I shot this sailor dancing with his girl on the pier, I knew in advance that this would be a double bottom story. The second meaning is not at all obvious here, so I will tell about it. This image is an ode to my reverent relationship with LEGO since childhood, the so-called "dark ages», its end and return to LEGO. The Dark Ages is what enthusiasts call a long hiatus from LEGO that can last for years. For example, when a child becomes a teenager and toys go beyond his interests, and in adulthood there is a return to this wonderful toy. There can be a variety of circumstances, for example, when their own children appear, each person can tell his own story.

The classic faces, the overall minimalism of the scene, and the warm tones symbolize the fact that after a hiatus of 17 years, I found that LEGO hasn't really changed much - it's still the same nice and warm building toy that I remember as a child. Same parts, same minifigures, the same main series. This is a good old friend who, after almost two decades, has remained the same, as if sleeping all this time in the refrigerator. It was as if LEGO flew somewhere very far away from me into space and returned years later. So many things have happened to me, I have not only grown up, but I have already begun to grow old, and these little characters are still smiling sweetly and sincerely, they are still ready to embark on incredible adventures with me at any moment.

A solitary sailor in Loch Ness, Scotland

Our blue marble. Sometimes, there's just no land in sight, even from our 400 km crow's nest. I think of all the sailors and explorers who traveled the world on solitary expeditions.

In 1858, the marinière top was introduced as part of the uniform in the Navy in northern France. Many sailors came from Brittany, which is how the pattern got its nickname: The Breton Stripe. The striped shirt was, and still is, the sailor’s undershirt. And there was a manly, hardworking, and sexy symbolism in wearing nothing but that undershirt.

From the exhibition ”Oceanista - Fashion and the Sea” at Sjöfartsmuseet (The Maritime Museum) in Gothenburg.

For this lil sailor I added a background image. Just trying something a bit different.

#ROAR (Rotterdam Art Ride) Eighteen pillars supporting a subway track have been painted around Maashaven and Rijnhaven by various Dutch and international artists.

This one, "Sailor" by Tymon de Laat, is right in front of Rijnhaven station.
