The Milky Way floats above East Beckwith Mountain clad with aspen in fall color, both reflected in Lost Lake Slough. The only time during our 2+ day visit that the sky was cloudless, the atmosphere windless, and lake still was at night. The Sagittarian core of the Milky Way is just about finished showing its lovely cluster of stars and cosmic gas for the season, slipping into the southern hemisphere until next spring.

Sagittarian Woman - My Season

What type of person is a Sagittarius?

Sagittarians are typically outspokenly optimistic extroverts who elicit respect and affection from everyone they come into contact with. Sagittarius natives are loyal, smart, assertive, and compassionate personality! They are one-of-a-kind, talented, and have impeccable discernment.

Robot Centaur Horse Man Wood Statue of Sagittarius

I'm dedicating this one to a family member who's zodiac "sign" this is ... a centaur of the robot world of my imagination, his bottom horse half in a deep, bronze metaliz, top man (or humanoid robot) half as well as tail and accents in a lovely pink rose gold. This sculpture / miniature statue is steady and free standing in a moving pose with one arm raised.

All wood except for two tiny pieces of metal in the shoulder (even the tail!). This creation is about 3 1/4" high, 3" long and about 1 1/2" wide (remember, 2 1/2 centimeters to an inch).

Made almost 100% from wood unless stated otherwise (I sometimes use tiny amounts of other things) I use paint and many finishes, often metallic, and make sure a lot of details shine through, often even the wood grain itself despite high tech themes. They maintain an often retro, sometimes even rustic look and feel to them, like an "olde worlde" toy or something (some more so than others ... I am told that surprisingly many do not even look like they are wood, but like metal or some manmade material... you can usually tell by the photos).

Made of Wood! Part of my "Retro Tech" line ... I build a lot of different things like ray guns, robots, rocket ships, flying saucers, other machines, telescopes and more in many different formats from full size prop replicas to miniatures, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, pendants, etc ... see my main site found through my profile which has many more photos and information. I do a lot of classic looks, but am expanding into more modern and a lot of steampunk, too!

#BdayShenanigans #Sagittarian

Sagittarians are known for their broad vision, tolerant attitude, freedom-loving philosophical air, and generally jovial spirits. Their hearts and spirits are big; their outlook is liberal and forgiving; their style is colorful and noisy; their passion for life contagious.

Sagittarians are always planning for the future, thinking about a bigger tomorrow, and thus they tend not to worry about the here and now. They are blessed with fine intuition but can suffer through dismissing critical analysis as someone else's negative outlook; sanguine in the conviction that "all will work out well in the end."

This is a sign that rarely recognizes restrictions and certainly doesn't approve of limitations. Sagittarians adopt a "live and let live" philosophy that recoils from narrow mindedness. They have a natural dislike of all things "prim and proper" and will laugh in the face of supercilious morality. Just when everyone seems willing to take flight into collective self-congratulation and pretentiousness, the Sagittarian is there, ready to burst the hollow bubble with a painfully incisive reminder of the truth. This is honesty Sagittarian style - frank, blunt, and disquietingly valid.

The volatile influence of Mars can set their fiery light ablaze, and quite frankly no one enjoys a good all out scrap or verbal assault, no holds barred, like a Sagittarian does. Nor are many as quick to forgive and forget once the fiery moment has passed. There is no lingering malice or unexpressed resentment lurking among the ulterior motives of this sign.

There is a constant need for challenge, stimulation and freedom of expression and movement. This can produce restlessness in relationships and a lack of constant commitment in professions that call for mundane application. The Sagittarian has a well reputed love of travel and an urge for exploration that calls for adventure and space - physically, intellectually and emotionally. 'Stability' is a restriction, 'commitment' is a limitation. However, they pride themselves on having a firm moral basis and try to act with integrity. Although naturally flirty and attention-seeking, there is little reason to suspect them of being anything other than they admit they are. An ideal partner would be stable and quietly confident, unafraid to let them feel liberated in lifestyle and conduct. Possessiveness is abhorrent to them, jealousy dampens their spirits, and emotional confinement inevitably leads to rebellion.

There is great ambition and a constant striving towards growth and development, but one that incorporates the reality of loss. Theirs is an active engagement in the experimentation of life, and most Sagittarians who succeed have done so on a foundation that has probed the limits of disaster as well as triumph. Downfalls that affect this sign arise from becoming so enraptured in their own enthusiasm that they act without foresight; and pursuing a vision that exceeds the limits of reality. But even in suffering the Sagittarian copes better than most. All change is viewed as an opportunity for stimulation and renewed motivation.

Typically a lover of sport, the real issue for the Sagittarian is the need to react spontaneously and intuitively; to project the energies outwards and upwards. An instinct for acting first and thinking later necessarily brings inconstancy and risk, but the indefatigable Sagittarian is always "in there," playing the game, positioning themselves at the very heart of where the action is.

FYI: No, it's not my birthday. That rolls around on November 30th. I'll be 40. Send gifts, money, and the appropriate well wishes to my home address THEN. Ha.

This is just a "shout out" to all of my Sag friends who share many of the same unique traits, and enjoy a very interesting ride through life.

Some funny birthday quotes:

Age is a number and mine is unlisted.

Inside every older person is a younger person – wondering what the hell happened!

A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman’s birthday but never remembers her age.

Men are like wine: some turn to vinegar, but the best improve with age.

Few women admit their age. Few men act theirs.

Sagittarian's Secret Desire: To make a difference in the world

Yip, that's me.....

Back in January, I was invited to ride on the Jeremiah O'Brien for its trip to dry dock for repairs, cleaning and repainting. The JO'B is one of the last surviving Liberty Ships from WWII, now converted to a museum, permanently docked in San Francisco.

We left at 5:30, before dawn, on a cold and rainy morning. The heaving ship and dark conditions forced me to work at maximum ISO to freeze the action with mostly sub-1-second shots, as tugboats shoved us around SF's waterfront, from Fisherman's Wharf to the BAE shipyards at Pier 70. It was a really fun and surreal experience, definitely out of my element.

Sagittarius is symbolized by the Archer–half-man, half-horse. This symbolizes the Sagittarian’s attempt to free itself from man’s animal nature. The centaur is thought to symbolize the development of the human soul. It symbolizes the animal natures and desires of man, as well as its spiritual aspirations. In Greek mythology, centaurs were adventurous, brave, and wise; they were also given to brawling and uncivilized behavior.

The glyph for Sagittarius is a straightforward one — it depicts the archer’s arrow slung in a bow. This glyph symbolizes the desire for direction, a higher purpose, and abundance.

“A good archer is known not by his arrows but by his aim.”

In astrology, Sagittarius is the ninth sign of the zodiac, considered as governing the period from about November 22 to about December 21. It is represented either by a centaur shooting a bow and arrow or by an arrow drawn across a bow.

~

Sagittarians are the bright and breezy sign of the zodiac - all big hugs, bouncy energy and lots of laughs. They have zero filters, which makes them spontaneous, rude, honest, hilarious and challenging. If you know a Sagittarian, you’ll know all about this! They’ll have said things to you which ~scorched~, but five minutes later, all is well again. You just can’t stay mad at them.

~

Sagittarians are lively, passionate, smart and more philosophical than their clown-y energy may hint at. They love to feel free and resist rules, regulations, constraints and schedules. They just like doing what they do, when they wanna do it. They're born travellers, adventurers, explorers and free spirits.

Okay!...seems like the tagging game is in full swing now….i’ve been tagged by Aftab vai, Aabha, Jalisha, Jycee, Shurovi and Ena ……..so yea, here goes..

1.I know what you’re thinking about my hair…I’ve heard that so many times in my life, even from random strangers in the streets…that it looks like that of our Rebel Poet ..i used to hate that, but now I take it as a compliment =)

2.And although my deshi people don’t seem to be fans of my hair, it was quite the opposite in China, Malaysia, Thailand…people would ask, ‘Wo! Where did you pump and curl your hair?’, because it was something they would like to do if they got bored of their perfect silky black hair.. =P

3.I have a particular accent, which is similar to that of the US…and people usually ask me within minutes of having the fist conversation with me, ‘Did you ever lived in the US?’ …which I didn’t, and the thing is, that’s just how I speak, be it in Bangla, English or any other language.. =S

4.I love talking to cats and dogs in the streets…….and I sometimes think I should do a ‘100 Strangers Project’ with them =D

5.I was in a Chinese stage play once where I was a street vendor and my role was selling apples…and my only lines were ‘Pinguo ta shuai may la! Wo ta, Wo tien la!!’ =P

6.I love riding bikes…and I love riding them FAST….it wouldn’t matter if it rained all day and the streets were all slippery, I wud still get my bike out…so there have been many cuts and bruises as a result of falling off from it =)

7.I LOVE sweets…in fact, I’m sort of addicted to them….deshi sweets, chocolates, strawberry cheese cakes, almost any dessert….that probably accounts for my extra pounds =D

8.I don’t know if my photos sometimes suggest that I’m materialistic, but the fact is I’m quite the opposite…I’m very bad when it comes to money and make-up =S

9.I would rather spend my money on visiting a good exhibition, rather than on bad company…and I think I’ve mentioned it in another photo of mine that I am absolutely crazy for some painters.. <3

10.My first preference was to study film-making, but argh, didn’t happen….so I chose the next best thing, Architecture…because it’s creative, and it opens you up to a number of fields…I never regretted my Buet days…they were definitely one of the ‘bestest’ times of my life… =)

11.But when it came to practice, I saw that architecture was as commercial as any other field…but I needed a humanitarian purpose for my survival…so I tweaked it a bit, and am now working with Shelter after Disasters… =]

12.But again, I miss the creative aspect of it….so that’s where my photography came into existence I guess =D

13.I’m more or less a perfect Sagittarian…who likes philosophy, can’t stay at any one place for long, hates details, fears commitments, loves freedom, speaks the truth……etc, etc…=P

14.About speaking the truth, I talk very little….but when I do, I tend to be pretty straight forward in my approach ( diplomacy was never my thing) …and people sometimes take that as outright rude, n I guess that way I hurt people without even knowing it…=S

15.I really enjoy cooking…..as long as I don’t have to do it more than once a week =P

16.I like movies that have some thought put in them….I hate dirty comedies, but love the innocent ones ….like, Kung-Fu Panda! I could watch it over n over again and still have a good laugh…=)

17.If I’m to choose between a calm and quiet life in the suburbs and the chaotic life in a city…I’d probably choose the city life…=S

18.I get baffled when people ask me, ‘So where’re you gonna settle eventually? What are your long-term plans?’….i have stopped making long-term plans for quite a long time now…and I can not visualize myself in one place for the whole of my life…=S

19.Okay…now im getting tired…..i think this whole thing should be cut down to 10, and not 20..a good time to watch Kung Fu Panda may be.. =D

20.This is actually the first time im playing it…and hopefully the last too =P

Engraved archer on Moser wine glass. Engraved Astrological symbols for constellations and signs around rim and planet symbols around bowl base. Moser acid etch to base dates from 1925.

Rare Moser Hand Engraved Zodiac glass made for a Sagittarian.

Signed Moser goblets in the Maria Theresia (also termed "Maria Theresa") pattern were introduced in 1913. 6 1/4" height. Each goblet is mouth blown in fine, clear and thick crystal and then elaborately hand engraved on the twelve facets of the bowl.

This was actually engraved circa 1980's by Moser engraver Bečvář Karel. I found out this after enquiries to Moser.
