"Sacrifice"

I'ma need those eyes focusing on me

Middle of the night, I'm the only star you'll see

I'ma need those hands runnin' over me

'Cause I ain't the type to let you go easy, so

Say goodbye to every other girl in the night behind you

Now you're mine, tell me what you're willing to sacrifice, ooh

Sacrifice

When it comes to me, don't want no compromise

This should be the only body on your mind

When it comes to me, I'm down for life

So tell me, would you sacrifice?

Yeah

Sacrifice

Tell me, would you sacrifice?

Yeah

Sacrifice

Tell me, would you sacrifice?

Wanna be the air every time you breathe

Running through your veins and the spaces in between

I wanna feel your heart every time it bleeds

Living in your brain, there's only room for me, so

Say goodbye to every other girl in the night behind you

Now you're mine, tell me what you're willing to sacrifice, ooh

Sacrifice

When it comes to me, don't want no compromise

This should be the only body on your mind

When it comes to me, I'm down for life

So tell me, would you sacrifice?

Yeah

Sacrifice

Tell me, would you sacrifice?

Yeah

Sacrifice

Tell me, would you sacrifice?

Sacrifice your body to the rhythm of mine

To the rhythm, to the rhythm of mine

Sacrifice your body to the rhythm of mine

To the rhythm, to the rhythm of mine

Sacrifice your body to the rhythm of mine

To the rhythm, to the rhythm of mine

Sacrifice your body to the rhythm of mine

So tell me, would you sacrifice?

This summer, I went back to visit the American cemetery in Normandy, and whenever I go there, it makes me think about how many lives are shattered by the selfishness of a few people, and how those few people have the power to manipulate the lives of millions. My God, give us the clarity of thought to recognize when they want to manipulate us, so that we can ignore those people and the disastrous consequences they create.

Another experimental lith print image. I am working with the copper sulfate bleach look, and trying to analyze both how it works and what it does to images sort of viscerally. Perhaps most interesting in a high-rez world of what is the emotional impact of the sacrificed information?

Having done a little darkroom and other alternative process photography before, I know that it is sometimes kind of a luxury to just let the vagaries and vicissitudes of the process make decisions, and it can be surprisingly challenging as you lean more, to in a way take creative responsibility for the final image to a greater degree.

This is a step in a larger process for me. Learning to see another way. And it feels weird to do something that is both so satisfying and feels so at risk of being outgrown and so then despised.

But making art is about embracing tensions like these, isn't it? About finding ways to surf that wave.

In a few years I will either still like these, or they will have helped me to grow into someone who is capable of seeing differently. This gives me the courage to show them, but not quite enough comfort to do so without making my long justifications. Somewhere.

I have always been a firm believer in not giving up on anybody, no matter how far gone they are.

Everybody needs someone who won't leave.

Everybody needs to be loved as if they are sacred.

Do away with all of this "I will if you will" business, but simply give. You will never give too much. You can simply give, and die. And they say that there is no greater love than that which lays its life down for a friend.

365 - The 2010 Edition - July 29, 2010

Paguma's post tonight reminded me of the sacrifices our parents made - that all parents make - for their kids.. From giving up the last slice of bread, to forking out thousands of dollars for dance lessons and baseball uniforms, we do it - and never look back. I don't regret a thing that I've ever given up so that my kids could do whatever it was they needed to do..

But I'm especially reminded of a couple of things my folks did for me that must have really been hard for them at the time. We weren't poor, but we weren't rich either. With five kids, there just isn't a lot of wiggle room on the budget. So when we wanted something, we had to r-e-a-l-l-y want it... We learned all about delayed gratification, and the art of saving, and lots of other skills that have served my credit rating well over the years..

One year, the folks surprised me with an actual electric guitar. It probably cost over a hundred dollars in the mid-sixties, which would be like a thousand dollars today - at least to our family.. It was a real stretch for them, and an awesome gift for a kid my age.. I tried to teach myself to play, and I believe I even took a few lessons - but it was hopeless.. I couldn't contort my hands to create the chords - had no muscle memory - and couldn't get both hands to work together.. I tried so hard.. I knew it had been a huge investment in me, my future, and my happiness for my parents, and I really, really didn't want to let them down - but it was hopeless..

Still, I kept that guitar, hoping that I would eventually be able to stretch my hands somehow, or learn to make some kind of music with it. In fact, I still have the carcass in the closet.. Travis gutted the pick-ups out of it for some reason, and all the strings are long gone.. The Waa-Waa bar swings uselessly against the sunburst paint on it's old body... But to me, it's value is as dear as ever. Because it's a reminder that my parents loved me, and were willing to help me do whatever it was that I wanted to do in life...

The purpose of the Argonaut expedition was to fly to King Pelias of the Golden Fleece from Colchis (AIA), which was in the depths of the Black Sea.

The Golden Fleece was the ram, which went Frixos to escape from his father, the king of Orchomenos Boeotia, and stepmother, who were ready to sacrifice the. Frixos finally arrived at the court of King Aetes, who received him with honors and gave him the daughter of a woman. When Frixos sacrificed the ram to Zeus, gave his skin to Aetes, who hung an oak tree in the grove of Mars and put a dragon to tribes, day and night.

The cause of the Argonaut expedition was as follows: King Pelias of Thessaly in Lokridas had received prophecies that killed by a descendant of Aeolus and stored by a man who will be wearing a sandal. When Pelias saw Jason in front of him, wearing a sandal just in his right leg to him away from him, gave him a mandate to bring back the Golden Fleece.

The campaign took part all the Greek heroes, fifty in number, including Hercules. Among them were the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, Idas and Lynkeas, Orpheus, Peleus, the Meleager, Tydeus by the Amphiaraos, and Hunter Atalanta, the only woman.

The leader of the campaign was Jason when requested by Hercules, who had only to complete the feat of Erymanthoy boar, to take leadership, not consent.

The ship for the voyage was made by Argos, the son of Phrixus, from which it got its name, Argo. It was made from trees of Mount Pelion, under the guidance of the goddess Athena. Had fifty oars and stern Athena had put a piece of the sacred oak of talking Dodonon.

Pagases sailed from the port of Iolkou. When the ship arrived in Mysia, the Hylas, the companion of Herakles left, and went to bring water and Heracles was left behind to find him, so he took part in another campaign.

The Argonauts, after many adventures reached the mouth of the River Stage in Colchis.

There, the king Aeëtes promised to give the Golden Fleece, if Jason sow first of the remaining teeth of the dragon, which was not used by Cadmus in Thebes and zepsei two steers that were making fire from their nostrils and had steel legs .

Jason with the help of Medea, the daughter of Aetes, which had fallen in love, managed to get the golden skin. Along with Medea, took the way back, but fell into a big storm and found in Italy. Finally after many adventures, arrived back in Iolko.

"Breath"- Breaking Benjamin

I see nothing in your eyes, and the more I see the less I like.

Is it over yet, in my head?

I know nothing of your kind, and I won't reveal your evil mind.

Is it over yet? I can't win.

So sacrifice yourself, and let me have what's left.

I know that I can find the fire in your eyes.

I'm going all the way, get away, please.

[Chorus:]

You take the breath right out of me.

You left a hole where my heart should be.

You got to fight just to make it through,

'cause I will be the death of you.

This will be all over soon.

Pour salt into the open wound.

Is it over yet? Let me in.

[Bridge]

I'm waiting, I'm praying, realize, start hating.

[Chorus]

You take the breath right out of me.

You left a hole where my heart should be.

You got to fight just to make it through,

'cause I will be the death of you.
