Die als Vorortelinie bekannte Bahnstrecke von Wien-Hütteldorf nach Brigittenau ist heute ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Wiener S-Bahnnetztes und wird unter der Woche im 10-Minutentakt bedient. Als die Strecke 1899 als erste Strecke der Wiener Stadtbahn eröffnet wurde lief es allerdings noch nicht so gut, denn die Züge waren fast durchgehend schlecht ausgelastet. Dies führte dazu, dass die Strecke anders als die restlichen Stadtbahnstrecken nicht von der Stadt Wien übernommen und elektrifiziert wurde und der reguläre Personenverkehr bereits 1932 eingestellt wurde. Danach verkehrten im Personenverkehr nur Ausflugszüge im Sommer, allerdings auch nur bis 1951. In der Zwischenzeit wurde eines der beiden Gleise teilweise abgebaut, die Bahnhöfe waren dem Verfall ausgesetzt und ab 1978 durften aufgrund des schlechtes Zustands der Strecke keine Personenzüge mehr den Weg über die Vorortelinie nehmen.
Das Revival kam mit dem Beschluss Ende der 1970er Jahre, die Strecke ins Wiener Schnellbahnnetz zu integrieren. Nach Umfangreichen Sanierungs- und Wiederaufbaumaßnahmen ging die Vorortelinie im Sommer 1987 wieder in Betrieb und wird seit dem von der Linie S45 befahren.
Planmäßig bewältigen Talente das Fahrgastaufkommen, allerdings reichen diese fast nie aus und so ziemlich jeden Tag fährt mindestens ein 4020, zumindest war das 2024 so. Hier verlässt der saubere 4020 276 Steuerwagen voraus den schönen Bahnhof Ottakring.
ÖBB Triebwagen 4020 097 erreichte am 7. Oktober 2002 als S45 auf der Linie Hütteldorf - Handelskai den Bahnhof Wien Penzing.

ÖBB railcar 4020 097 was in use on the S45 line in Vienna on October 7th 2002 (running back and forth between Wien Hütteldorf and Wien Handelskai) and will stop briefly at Penzing station in a few seconds time.

Really big bees (~25mm long), these jet black pollinators are a sight to behold. When the sun shines on their wings and bodies they reflect a deep violet hue (unfortunately not apparent in this photo). They are called "carpenters" because they dig tunnels in wood to build their nests and also use wood bits to divide cells in there.

Location: Diesterweggasse/Linzer Straße
Early afternoon, 1-2 trams of Type E1 use the route of tram line 52 via Baumgarten to get from the tram depot to its operation route. This offers the possibility to take a picture of it underneath this Otto Wagner-style bridge of suburban train line S45.
One from the archive which had been hibernating for a while. I originally shot this on colour neg, but was never fully satisfied with the result. Reinvented as a B&W I think it works well however.

Bauarbeiten Anfang Februar 2022 in Neukölln machten es möglich, dass es auch die neue Baureihe 483/ 484 auf den Nordring schaffte. Hier als Dreiviertelzug aus drei Viertelzügen BR 483 zwischen S+U Westhafen und S Beusselstraße.
Im Hintergrund wartet ein ICE3 auf dem Highfly über der Perleberger Straße auf Einfahrt nach Berlin Hbf (tief).
Das 80er Jahre Betongebirge im weiteren Hintergrund befindet sich an der Müllerstraße in Wedding, die Flutlichtanlage gehört zum Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark Stadion in Prenzlauer Berg.

Exposed for normal development, and home-developed with Jobo CPE-3 and Ilfosol-3 (1+14, 6 minutes).

Updated version, with more work with targetted curves to improve certain areas (esp. reflection, clouds, and foreground contrast), add some tonal richness, and bring down the platinum quite a bit.
Altogether very satisfied with the outcome on this one. I'd never been to this location before, and having the conditions fall perfectly into place is most unusual on a first visit (I did though check the tide times beforehand). Would have been nice to have some on large format colour, but I don't currently have any Portra, the soft palette of which I think would have suited the scene really well (Velvia, which I did have with me, would not have worked at all).
The Ottakringer Kirtag is a very popular church fair in Ottakring, Vienna's 16th district. It's both a fun fair and a music festival. ottakringerkirtag.at/
In the background you can see a train of the S45, the so-called Suburban line (Vorortelinie), a very laid-back commuter train (S-Bahn) line that was originally part of the Vienna Stadtbahn designed by Art Nouveau architect Otto Wagner. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suburban_line_(Vienna)

Levée à 6h pour contempler le ciel de Camargue s'embraser. Quelques heures fouettée par un vent glacial et par la beauté renouvelée d'un matin du monde.
