My local station was far more interesting in 1960 than it is today. Looking at other photos 6438 seemed to be the regular loco on this service. Nothing left except the far roof is the Railway pub. The little girl with her mother would be around 65 now.
Due to the recent unauthorized publication of my images in a magazine. newspaper and two published books without payment I have to now make this statement. I keep attending online Railway Soc events where speakers brazenly show my images without any acknowledgment of the photographer or the fact they have just stolen them off my FLICKR site. Hence I have been forced to add a copyright sign in the corner.
This image is the copyright of © Peter Brabham or © Derek Chaplin family ; Any users, found to replicate, reproduce, circulate, distribute, download, manipulate or otherwise use my images without my written consent will be in breach of copyright laws. I will retrospectively claim £50 per print image if prior written authorization for publication has not been sought. Please contact me at pete.brabham@ntlworld.com for permission to use any of my FLICKR photographs in hard copy publication. I will usually give permission free of charge to Heritage Railways and steam loco restoration project advertising, but profit-making magazines and book authors must pay a reproduction fee. Authors should know the provenance of high quality digital images that they use.

New regulations are coming which means 2004 and 2005 are transitional years, phasing out the grid of first-generation, flat-bottom LMP cars over safety concerns about their tendency of blow-overs and back-flips. A "hybrid" set of rules allows existing cars to be adapted in the interim, while any all-new cars need to be on the new spec.
No manufacturer fields a factory team this year.
From the UK, Rollcentre bring the Dallara back to Le Mans after a year hiatus. The mighty Lister Storm LMP returns with Essex sponsorship. Team Kondo’s Advan-sponsored Dome S101 is essentially unchanged from last year.
Pescarolo continues to evolve his cars, now only loosely based on the Courage C60 chassis. He’s made the switch from Peugeot power to Judd.
Cadillac and Chrysler are long gone. Panoz’ LMP1 roadster is done, but he enters a resurrected version of his original late-90’s closed-top GTP coupe before moving on to the GT class. Bentley is out as well, their program had achieved its ultimate goal of overall victory at Le Mans.
Audi leaves the racing to a brace of customer teams running the increasingly regulated but still adaptable R8. New "hybrid spec" rules slim the rear wings to cut downforce, and restrictors attempt to strangle the mighty twin-turbo V8. Minor revisions to the adapt the R8 to these challenges ensure it’s faster than ever. The race largely plays out as a scuffle amongst the Audis.
Follow along as I retrace the important and interesting prototypes of the Le Mans "LMP" era and the story of Audi's legacy. #legolemans

Houthavenpark 16/04/2021 13h01
A park is a big word, but this park along the Spaarndammerdijk and Tasmanstraat has been named park and is based on the Spaarndammertunnel. That is the city route S101. The name used to be Spaarndammerpark but has been renamed to Houthavenpark in 2021.
A work of art by artist Frank Tjempemak has been placed around the ventilation shafts of the Spaarndammertunnel. Stainless steel towers surround the shafts, in a pattern that mimics the structure of tree leaves.
The landscaping around this art object is clearly not yet in its final form. Hopefully.
Houthavens
Houthaven is a neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands situated in the West borough. Literally meaning "lumber port", Houthaven is a port situated along the IJ in Amsterdam's western port. It is bordered by a dam in the IJ river to the north and the Spaarndammerbuurt in the south. It is currently predominantly used by inland barges, however plans are in motion to radically change the area in the next few years by building a new residential area on seven artificial islands.
The harbour is made up out of four parts (from east to west): Oude Houthaven (Old Lumber Port), Houthaven, Nieuwe Houthaven (New Lumber Port) and Minervahaven (Minerva Port). This is why the Houthaven is also referred to as the Houthavens (which is the plural).
The Houthaven was dug out in 1876, together with the North Sea Canal. It was the first port in Amsterdam to be dug out (the earlier ones using existing waters). Its purpose was to tranship and store lumber. As lumber was increasingly transported by road, parts of the port were filled up with sand to be used for other purposes in 1945. The Minervahaven remained in use for lumber transhipment and wood processing industry was located there but port-related activities decreased strongly over time. The area is currently being redeveloped.
Since 2015, the new Houthaven district has been built on the site of the former wood stores at the Houthavens. New canals have been dug out and seven artificial islands have been constructed. A new living and working area will be built on this, which will consist of some 1,700 homes and 52,000 m² of commercial space.
Along the Spaarndammerdijk, a busy road (s102) between the center and the A10, the Spaarndammertunnel was built for car traffic, it was opened in 2018. On top of that, a green area has been created with a service road for local traffic and the city bus. In 2021 this was renamed Houthavenpark.
The islands created in the second decade of the 21st century are called: Wibor Island, Stetto Island, Revale Island, Narva Island, Meme Island, Libau Island and Karlskrona Island and are also named after cities around the Baltic Sea. This partly concerns the (German) place names from before 1945. The seven new islands are connected by fifteen bridges. The bridges are also named after cities around the Baltic Sea. The most iconic bridge is the Gevlebrug, designed by Piet Kramer.
The Houthaven can be reached from the center by bus line 48 and rush-hour bus 248, which have their terminus in the district at the Koivistokade, as well as rush-hour bus line 222, which connects the district with Sloterdijk Station. On the edge of the district, bus line 22 has a stop at Spaarndammerstraat.

Le Mans 2004
New regulations are coming which means 2004 and 2005 are transitional years, phasing out the grid of first-generation, flat-bottom LMP cars over safety concerns about their tendency of blow-overs and back-flips. A "hybrid" set of rules allows existing cars to be adapted in the interim, while any all-new cars need to be on the new spec.
No manufacturer fields a factory team this year.
Follow along as I retrace the important and interesting prototypes of the Le Mans "LMP" era and the story of Audi's legacy. #legolemans
