My favourite piece of jewellery and learned today it can be used to facilitate astral travel! It apparently also amplifies energy and intention. Maybe that's why I like it so much.

For Macro Mondays - theme 'crystal'

A clear quartz crystal that contains long, thin, golden-orange crystals of another mineral, rutile. This specimen is illuminated from behind and is 1 cm wide. Rutile is a mineral of titanium. Quartz is a mineral of silicone.

Rutile forms within quartz crystals through a process of crystallization from hydrothermal fluids or molten rock (magma) under high temperature and pressure. As these fluids cool, both quartz and rutile (titanium dioxide) begin to crystallize. The rutile, often in needle-like formations, crystallizes first, and then the quartz grows around it, trapping the rutile within the quartz matrix. This creates the characteristic "rutilated quartz" with rutile inclusions appearing as golden, reddish, or black needles or strands within the quartz.

A truly romantic and beautiful heart necklace. This glass lampwork heart was handmade by me in the flame. Layers of black and white with a streak of shimmering dichroic all coated in clear for added depth and beauty.

This heart has been wired onto a solid sterling silver bail with sterling silver wire. Dropping below the heart is a beautiful faceted rutilated quartz onion briolette wire wrapped with a very fine gauge sterling wire. I love this heart!

Including the bail, heart drops down about 2.5 inches from the center of the chain. The heart itself measures almost 2 inches in width and length.

Made back in September, I'm just now getting around to posting pictures of it. It's beautiful, isn't it?

This is my challenge piece for the Glitz Lounge August Challenge.

I do realize I'm quite a bit late, but I'm sure you can see I had a lot of wiring to do. ;)

While I don't have a favorite painting, I do enjoy many a painting and more specifically, the strokes made by watercolors on canvas.

So when I saw these three pendants together, they reminded me of three stages in painting: a blank canvas (the first pendant), the point where paint is blobbed onto the canvas (the second pendant) and the finished piece (the third pendant.)

Made with 3 imperial jasper pendants and faceted rutilated quartz rounds of various sizes, three strands are attached to two handmade circular components that when worn attract the eye to the delicateness of the collarbone. The silver was oxidized to the darkest shade possible to setoff the transparency of the rutilated quartz and the whiteness of the jasper pendants. The necklace secures in the back with a handmade clasp.

At a total length of 26 inches (27 inches including the third pendant), the shortest wearable length in this necklace can be resized down to 16 inches. This is a very striking piece that can be worn casually or just as easily dressed up.

Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz which contains acicular (needle-like) inclusions of rutile.[1] It is used for gemstones. These inclusions mostly look golden, but they also can look silver, copper red or deep black. They can be distributed randomly or in bundles, which sometimes are arranged star-like, and they can be sparse or dense enough to make the quartz body nearly opaque. While otherwise inclusions often reduce the value of a crystal, rutilated quartz is valued for the quality and beauty of these inclusions ( Wikipedia )

These are so fun you can do anything with them. Hang them in the window like a sun-catcher, put them on a hat, coat, purse, magnet, pin, frame, mirror, backpack or anything you like. You can use them in scrap-booking or making a special card. Use your imagination & go wild. They are on wire so they are posable and you can have the tail straight or bent it is up to you, since it is bendable you can change your mind. I can make these in other color combos just convo me if you have a request, special order or need more qty.

These are made with wire, glass seed beads & glass tube beads & a lot of love. My Dragonflies measure approx.

2 1/2" long & approx 2" wing span.

Photographed at the 2018 East Coast Gem and Mineral Show in Springfield, Massachusetts. The De Bruins were the featured collector and filled 50 display cases with their mineral specimens.

~14 x 9 x 6 cm., 3-pounds 6.5 ounces. A Brazilian specimen completely filled with fine rutiles.

I purchased this stone in Canmore,Alberta in october of 2010. Just an inch or so long, the rutile and the cut of the crystal make for some beautiful pictures.
