In the port you can find lots of rust, on ships and piles of scaffolding. This picture I took in the harbour of Helgoland on one of the piles. I love the structures the rust makes on surfaces and creates art in a way.
Thanks for taking time to fave, comment and look at my work. I really appreciate.

Taken for the Macro Mondays theme of "rust" I couldn't believe how hard it would be to find something rusty in my house!
Rust is the 9/11 topic for Macro Mondays, and even though I have a garage full of rusty nails, screws, ancient tools, etc, I couldn't resist going back to my favorite rusty nail, sticking up out of our side yard fence. I've used it before, but a different angle and different light gives me a different image,
I took this in the evening light as the sun was starting to go down. I didn't really like the colour version, so I tried it in black and white, unfortunately as the machine is close to the cypresses there was very little definition , so I settled for this kind of in- between tone.
Whether it's an attractive picture , is of course another story.

📍 Trevose Head 🌊
A long exposure shot at Trevose Head, near Padstow...
I was drawn to the warm rust-coloured seams in the rock and "golden hour" tones of the sky against the cool blues in the scene - which I accentuated with colour grading in Adobe RAW.
The sea was very calm. Maybe a little too calm. I exposed this frame over 80 seconds which flattened the sea to give a contrasting texture to the rocks. If the sea was a little rougher, there may have been more patterns created by the white-water which I'd have preferred.

One of my favorite old trucks under a gorgeous Wisconsin sky a few years back. This old truck was recently purchased and is being restored into a rat rod. I think I would rather it stay just like this....
Wishing everyone a wonderful Memorial Day!
This abstract is a section of the rusty hull from the vessel Oakglen that sits in our harbour. There is so much rust it was hard to compose something that spoke to me. Making sense of what seems like a lot of chaos is good practice for the tumultuous times we are living in. I guess I see a marsh with a moon reflected in it because nature is my go to place to find peace. May you all find your place of peace, too.

This rusted old weathervane sits on top of the barn at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve in St. Charles, Illinois.
I bought most of these tools over 50 years ago, and many were already well used when I bought them, so they've definitely earned their rust.
