One of Nikita's remaining, trustworthy contacts requests a meeting at a large church in a city about two hours from the tiny town where Nikita's been in hiding, retired.
He explains there's a rumor that her former boss, Sniper Girl's current boss, has trained a replacement, not only for Nikita, but potentially for Sniper Girl.
Nikita doesn't care if she's replaced, she figured she would be, but her informant asks how she feels about the danger possibly facing Sniper Girl.
Nikita tells him she doesn't care, that she and Sniper Girl were rivals, not friends, and neither owes the other anything.
He observes that maybe, people like them, owe more than they can ever repay, so why bother trying.
After he leaves, Nikita stares at the large doors of the old church.

Ora il rumore della Valle delle Rosole è il silenzio che domina questi spazi. Ma cento anni fa qui si moriva per contendersi le cime. Gli Alpini da una parte e gli austriaci dall'altra. Se si chiudono gli occhi si può cercare di immaginare il rombo delle granate e i colpi di fucile. Fanno da contorno i Monti Pasquale, Cevedale e Palon de la Mare.

Così, dopo un anno di pausa, siamo tornati a Caorle. Arrivando in tarda serata, col buio: subito a fare una passeggiata, subito a sentire il rumore del mare che s'infrange sulla scogliera per andare alla Madonna dell'Angelo.
E il giorno dopo: il centro storico, con le sue calli e campi: memoria di affiliazioni veneziane del passato. Poi, oltre il centro, la Caorle più turistica, con i suoi alberghi e negozi, ma mai troppo molesta. Una cittadina che è rimasta semplice, in parte una copia sbiadita della vicina (madre e modello turistica) Jesolo. Meglio così, comunque: se si va a Caorle a cercare Jesolo, forse c'è un problema di fondo, oltre che di navigatore (della macchina).
Resta il ricordo del sole di giugno: già caldo; del giornale letto sui tavolini all'aperto dell'albergo, subito dopo la colazione e della semplicità di tutto quanto.
Ecco, la semplicità: la caratteristica principale di Caorle. Niente di meglio da chiedere ad una vacanza.

One of my favorite shots of the trips was this old MP signal shot east of Eads. Seeing all the comments on my 1st CXR photo, sounds like getting these guys moving isn't easy. We made a 3 hour trip on Thursday for nothing to find out they were moving on Monday. Dumb luck worked out we stayed around eastern Colorado Sunday chasing the Kyle, so we were in position for this move Monday. They were going to load 45 cars that were already at the Weskan elevator Monday at Stuart. I am not sure what they would do with thee empty cars the rest of the week?
Rumor has it that these SD40's left the property in late October 2024.
