Apart from the Chiltern 68's locos along this section of line between Smethwick and Snow Hill are a bit of a rarity but to see a tram along here these days is a real rare occurrence too. So 31128 Charybdis rumbles along the heavy rail side with 37703 in tow running as 0Z37 Kidderminster S.V.R. to Barrow Hill whilst tram 40 zips along in the same direction, running empty.
Ex-Southern GP38-2 5186 brings 323 west another day, also long hood forward, with quite the train in tow. It had been a good while since I'd seen a HH GP38-2 on 323. Diggin' the baller huge plow on this end of the motor.

The book contains 14 chapters and 144 pages of photographs depicting the work of over 50 accomplished railway photographers with many differing styles and approaches. It takes an alternative view on photographing the railway scene over the past 50 years. Union Pacific's Cache Valley Local rumbles across a 30 ft. girder bridge above the abandoned Utah Idaho Central Railroad right of way on Sept. 20, 2023. Three covered hoppers will be set out at Presto Products in Lewiston, Utah while the fourth will travel across the Idaho State Line to Preston for Franklin County Grain Growers. It's another easy going day for UP LCG41C's crew of two.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - I could hear it before I saw it. A low rumble echoed across the verdant hills to the south while the sunset light faded behind me. Then the first flash of light cut through the hazy air. Somewhere beyond the railroad tracks a storm unleashed torrents of rain while my location remained dry. I've lost count of how many storms I've watched from this overlook east of Sheridan. Of the dozen or so good lightning bolts from this cell, my camera caught 3 of them. Somehow the best lightning always seems to happen out of frame or in the 1 second gap between pictures. Dusk is my favorite time to capture lightning. It's dark enough to use a long exposure, but light enough to still show details in the landscape. More often than not storms around here will die off after sunset or move too far to the east. But there will surely be a few more of these in the months ahead as convective season is just getting started.
Despite the rain, I took a drive around Salisbury Plain today and, as luck would have it, came across this pair of Grey Partridge. My first opportunity to photograph this native species...even tough I had to drop the shutter speed excessively...

This couple were sat on a bench in Albert Square, Manchester, eating chocolate biscuits, so, I decided to take a couple of pictures of them. Unbeknown to me the gentleman had spotted me but never said anything; he then leaned back with a smile on his face so that his partner could see what I was doing and she looked straight into my lens. I knew that I had been rumbled when they got up to leave and said “Goodbye”. What else could I say other than “Goodbye” back.
