At the wonderful LILAC LODGE guesthouse in KZN Province,South Africa.

His name is Achiwa. We were so delighted to find this cat again, still alive and well and thriving. When myself and my son stayed at this guesthouse in KZN Province about 3 years ago,he was always wanting to come into our room at night:-)) Rule 6 of this guesthouse says: "Please refrain from feeding the cats"

They have many cats there. Well..we tend to be rulebreakers:-)) He spent all the nights in our cabin in the room of my son and his bestie. We felt sorry for him,it is a mountainous region,it gets Bone Chilliing cold at night and early mornings.

Show me all the scars you hide. Be my eyes. Steady. In love.

You are all (!) I never knew I needed.

Never felt like this. I will always be your Rulebreaker, baby.

I’m gonna stand by You.

Extra from the Rulebreaker shoot. :)

So amazing to have my work shared on the community page! Thank you so much!

Don't shoot into the sun, don't put the sun in the centre and the sky is boring, don't fill the frame with it....... They say.

The theme for “Looking Close… on Friday” on the 23rd of April is “arrow or dart”. I thought about arrows (as I have no aptitude or interest in darts, except the ones used in making clothes) and I liked the clean lines of the one-way signs. However, I wanted something for a colour contrast. As someone who marches to the beat of my own drum, I envisioned pairs of shoes all following the rules, except for one pair: the pair that is the rulebreaker and marches to the beat of their own drum. I hope you approve and like my creation for the theme.

After using a pair of beautiful 1:12 size miniature red slippers from my miniatures collection for the group’s previous themes of “sprinkles” and “red and white”, I thought I might use them again, along with several other pairs I have subsequently acquired for this week’s theme. All the pairs of shoes are a centimetre in height and length, except the boots which are two centimetres in height.

Giraffes are notorious rule breakers. Put up yellow caution tape and block the path with a sign and they just look right past it; basically they thumb their noses at rules (if they had thumbs that is). They are kind of assholes like that.

Funny story about this train station. I took this picture of the escalators after my NYC weekend with my Seattle girlfriend, Staci. We took the Amtrak train back to Boston and we, oops, got off at the wrong train station; one stop too early! It was midnight btw when we disembarked. This station was 99.999999% deserted (no workers in sight) and it was marked horribly; I had no idea where the Hell we were, and I'm a woman who refuses to use the word "lost". I'm kind of like Sacajawea with my internal compass (true story), but this unmarked train station threw me for a loop. It was close to 1:00 AM when my husband finally arrived to rescue us. Staci and I were both near hysterical by the time he showed up. Staci threw up on the way home, she was so tired. We laugh about it now, and I continue to laugh about it every time I take the freeway off-ramp that pushed poor Staci's stomach over the edge. It has this amazing sharp and looooooooooong loop-corner (it's banked well though, I'll give it that). I now refer to Exit 12 off the Mass Turn Pike as "The Off-Ramp of Doom". ;-)

Another one from the water treatment pumping station at Trinity - a mono version of a cool blue I did earlier this year. I've kept the right to left perspective in this one (rulebreaker!) and also retained the Newhaven harbour complex as the light was hitting it beautifully.

Thanks for looking :-)

I originally took this for the "Break the rules" theme in the 52 weeks of 2016 group, however at the time I decided to use something that was even more of a rulebreaker, which left this image sitting in my export folder. I thought it was too nice to leave sitting there, so decided to apply some sliding to it and upload.

HSS!

This tattooed monk, after sweeping the temple with his fellow monks decided to take a quick smoke break. I really enjoyed the way he kept the cigarette tucked behind his back while smoke billows out from his lips. I double checked too that I'm not really being a narc by publishing this, and while it's not illegal unlike alcohol, generally smoking is discouraged for monks as a vice.

Mirpur Road, Dhaka

Bangladesh.

Notice the direction of sign.He was on the wrong side. Now, what will be impression to others, driving from other side ?

As road signs are approaching. Go straight or, hit him. You, the rule Breaker.

An one-way road shapes it's driver mind to think in one way. If someone appears from other direction with speed, it will be a real juggler for him. Rather than thinking of own track , the words "Ohh, I am going to hit that" peep through mind on that time & many accidents occur in this way. Street plays some strange mind game here.

How many rules have you broken?

To name a few here.

- Don’t put the subject in the dead centre

- Be sure the horizon is level

- Focus on the eyes of the subject in a portrait

- You need true black and true white for a B&W picture

- Shoot RAW for better quality and control

- Use Photoshop or Lightroom for photo editing

- You need digital darkroom (or editing) for digital photography

- Be sure your subject is not blended into the background (in similar tones or color)

- You need to shoot full frame for good quality

- You need large aperture prime lenses

- You need large aperture zoom lenses

Sometimes in the bottom of our sub-conscious mind, we are rule-breakers like the cyclist. :o)

Have a great Thursday!

A comment from Isabelle from Paris had me thinking: Does this doll really lack personality?

Setting aside the question, if a piece of plastic can have a personality, which is a moot question for doll collectors anyway, I found I have to disagree: This brunette has a personality!

Like so many Poppys she has a soft look. She seems a bit curious and slightly sceptical of her reception, but still open, willing to meet new people and communicate. So she has a brain and courage. A deeper look shows some longing for company, looking for fun as relief from boredom and a willingness to enjoy life and take some risks. She\'s not a tomboy, she does things in style, but she\'s not above playing a prank on some unsuspecting victim, who will be able to laugh about it with her after, because she\'s not mean. She\'s not a rulebreaker yet, but she might go there. There\'s humor too. It takes time to get to know her, but she\'s worth it to invest the time.

Let\'s not forget Poppy Parker is a model and an actress and she can freely choose the face she shows to the world.

What do you think? What do you see?

If you find this scene interesting or appealing to you, then you are like me. We are all “rule-breakers” at the bottom of our hearts.

I am naughty boy in photography i.e. trying to break all the golden rules all the time. In real life, I follow the parking rules all the time. :o(

I don’t want to get towed away or penalty ticket.

Happy rule-breaking Tuesday!!

GUYS! MY BEAUTIFUL FRIEND GIOVANNA STARTER A 365! CHECK HER OUT!

since the day I started writing my own.

I grew up in a perfectly decorated house and couldn't really touch things. There would be NO way I would be allowed to jump rope inside. I am not bitter or upset at all. It has taught me to have an eclectic, comfortable, and some times messy house. Sorry mom.

So, this is one of the first photos I took of Mossbrae Falls. I didn't compstomp you, Aaron. I swear. At least not intentionally. When we got down to the falls, this was the first comp I saw. I didn't realize untill after I took the photos, it was practically the same comp as Aaron Reed's. I feel so bad. And now that I'm switching between the two tabs, Aaron's totally dominates. :(

Anyway, Mossbrae Falls is spectacular. I'd seen photos of it, but it was so much better in person. And it looked so much more grand. I'm surprised my mom actually let us go to Mossbrae. We had to walk on railroad tracks that were supposedly "private property" to get there. And she's not much of a rulebreaker. And on the way back, a train passed us. Good thing there was room to the side of the tracks.

What rules did you have that you ended up breaking?

So, haha! Everybody's actually a rule breaker. And my Mother reminds me all these all too well. >_>
