These little birds are getting ready for travel as the activity has certainly become more crowded at the feeder. I will miss them sorely.

Several short clips put together. They don't stay at the feeder long, anywhere from 5 to 16 seconds drinking nectar, then they zip off! Then they come back anywhere from 5, 10, 15, and as long as 30 minutes later. I was lucky on most of these as they came back pretty quickly today. The last clip I put in at the end is in slow motion. The slow motion starts about 2 minutes and 26 seconds in the video.

The reason I am so excited about this particular photo (I've taken literally Hundreds of them trying to perfect some skills!) is that these are two female Ruby-Throated hummingbirds. Up to this point, there had always been two males and a female. So, since these two actually fed at the feeder at the same time with minimal fighting, I am guessing I have a mother / daughter duo which means they successfully hatched an egg! Happy Day! :)

the female has a white throat !

Checking me out. At one point, she was hovering within a foot of my face, way too close for this lens, so I just stopped and enjoyed the moment.

Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) is a magnet for the little birds.
