My wife won this chocolate shoe from Devonport Chocolates a few months ago. We ate it as an alternative to an Easter Egg this year! :-p
On final approach to London Heathrow runway 27L Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350-1000 G-VDOT 'Ruby Slipper' arrives from New York JFK.
Aircraft produce wingtip vortices that create wake turbulence in flight which increases when the aircraft is heavy and when it flies slowly. The term heavy is included by heavy class aircraft in radio transmissions during take-off and landing to warn other aircraft that they should leave additional separation to avoid this turbulence.

My daughter fell in love with these shoes and I can see why. I knew I had to photograph them, but they tickled my whimsy so I tried something very different. The cake stand was given to my parents as a wedding present. It was used for every one of my birthdays as I was growing up. It makes me smile and I'm sure this is the first time it ever held a shoe!

Arriving from New York JFK. Short finals for 09L.
Dorothy standing on a farm in Kansas.
I cut and paste Dorothy into this scene, as it was the only way to get both Dorothy and the background with good lighting. 😍🌸👧
I received the felted-wool hand-made witch hat I'd ordered from Etsy for Halloween and decided to have a little fun with some self-portraits.
I don't have an official studio, so my "studio", such as it is, consisted of a black fleece sheet nailed over my living room window (because the livingroom is where I have my studio lights, stands and umbrellas all stashed. I fashioned the lights, one on either side of me, the one to your left standing taller and looking toward and down while the one to your right was below and looking up toward my face. My Canon 5DSR had an 85mm f1.2L lens on it and was on a tripod. Attached to the camera was a wireless shutter release. I did not use a flash for this shot. After basic photo processing, I then took it through presets and filters that come with the Perfect Photo Suite 9, and this is the result.

I Felt To Postpone My Dorothy Gale Projects To Summer 2020
and I Got A Replacement for Role as Dorothy Gale
Incase You Need Find Out
"There's no place like home" paper quilling. This is in a 8X10 shadowbox frame and was sold at a craft show. The lady that bought this said that her friend decorated her baby's nursery in the Wizard of Oz theme and she would give it to her as a baby shower gift. This was the hardest one I'd made(at that point); it had lots of tiny details that just about drove me crazy(especially the 30 or more curls on the lion). I was so happy ,though, with how this came out.
Sixteen year-old Judy Garland wore these sequined shoes as Dorothy in the 1939 film classic, The Wizard of Oz. In the original book by L. Frank Baum, Dorothy’s magic slippers are silver; for the Technicolor movie, they were changed to ruby red to show up more vividly against the yellow-brick road. One of several pairs used during filming, these size-five shoes are well-worn, suggesting they were Garland’s primary pair for dancing scenes.
The National Museum of American History (NMAH), administered by the Smithsonian Institute, collects, preserves and displays American heritage in the areas of social, political, cultural, scientific and military history. The museum, which first opened in 1964 as the Museum of History and Technology, is located on the National Mall in one of the last structures designed by McKim, Mead & White. It was renamed in 1980, and closed for a 2-year, $85 milliomn renovation by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP from 2006 to 2008.
The Smithsonian Institution, an educational and research institute and associated museum complex, administered and funded by the government of the United States and by funds from its endowment, contributions, and profits from its shops and its magazines, was established in 1846. Although concentrated in Washington DC, its collection of over 136 million items is spread through 19 museums, a zoo, and nine research centers from New York to Panama.
My grand daughter had a small part in her school play, The Wizard of Oz, which we went to see this evening.
My children give me so many photographic opportunities. A local production of the Wizard of Oz that I have helped out. Thanks for viewing:) Joelle
I wish I had gotten both of her hands in the frame, but I thought her pose was too cute to pass up anyway. Evelyn's 5th birthday party theme was The Wizard of Oz.
You can never have too many pairs of shoes! All wardrobes should include a magical pair such as Ruby Slippers to take you to OZ and of course those fabulous pink ballet pumps for partying the night away, go on ... ‘Put on your dancing shoes!’
