I saw Ava's "ruby slippers" sitting around tonight and I decided to go with a Wizard of Oz theme.

This is pretty much the same setup as Bokeh Frog (56 of 365) (one SB-600 flash with a grid spot shining down on the shoes and Christmas lights in the distance for some bokeh). I went with holding the camera by hand with a longer shutter speed (instead of a tripod) to soften the background a bit.

You can visit my 1 Photo 4 365 Days blog for more info and shots.

My tribute to the very talented Lumpy Golightly: www.flickr.com/people/lumpy_golightly/

I loved her creativity with this shot, and it was quite a challenge to recreate!

From the ridiculous to the sublime :) Back on a legs theme it would appear...I had actually planned this shoot months ago, yet the way things worked out meant it took a lot longer to just get out and do it.

First up, how amazingly incredible are my ruby slippers. I bought them in the January sales purely based on the fact they were really high, red, and glittery. Whether I could walk in them or not was a side issue. I got these leggings recently and then tried in vain to find green socks (mens section of Burtons in the end).

The Wizard of Oz is a theme I visited back in February, by comparison this has a lot more iconic imagery. This image is really an homage to my beloved Fiat 500. I got this back in 2011, back when life was different and I only needed a car to drive me from A-B. These days, I need something a lot more practical, so, with sadness I have traded it in, for a Blue Citroen C3 Picasso. Before it goes, I used it as the 'yellow' essence for this self portrait.

On a side note, I am really enjoying the darker aspect of my portraits this year :)

I based the design of these charcaters on the Funko Pop! line of dolls. I have a video tutorial up on my YouTube channel (Shawna McGreevy of McGreevy Cakes) of how they were made. Here's the link if you're interested... youtu.be/yu6XGG5J854 TFL!

She Always Look Cute in Them Relaxing and I Just Her Ruby Slippers.

This was my first ever submission to a cake competition, the theme of which was Fairytale Weddings. The competition was hosted by Icing Inspirations and Too Nice to Slice.

I was inspired by the steampunk esthetic and wanted to choose a non-existent couple that suited that theme, hence Dorothy marrying the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. There's also a quote from the movie that the Tin Man says to Dorothy when she's leaving Oz, that inspired this cake: "Now I know I've got a heart, 'cause it's breaking..."

The map of Oz is entirely hand drawn in edible ink, the hot air balloon is carved cake, the net is sugar veil, and the Tin Man's heart and Dorothy's ruby slippers are in modelling chocolate.

Many hours of work, but all worth it in the end: I won 1st place and People's Choice in my division -- and I appeard on the 6:00 news! My favourite cake so far!

more from my 24 hours of flickr shots...i tried to get a few without making it a day in the life of.

started off processing this with Michelle Black's new "dramatic" action. then i did a little of my own finishing touches.

This was made for Boss's Day at the school where I teach. My principal LOVES the Wizard of Oz. We were holding a luncheon to celebrate Boss's Day on Halloween and she imposed a Wizard of Oz theme on the staff, so I figured I HAD to do a cake that followed the theme. She's a fabulous boss and so worth the effort of putting this cake together.
