There are three different modes to view your content in in Slate. There's the editor mode which shows all the boxes (the other screenshot), draft which shows draft content (this one) and production which shows you production content. It's an easy way to get an idea of how your content lays out with all the other editable regions. The orange bar at the top is only there when you're editing in Slate. It's not there in a production site.
