Water plunges over the edge of picturesque Ball's Falls near Jordan, Ontario.
Ball's Falls is an historic ghost town in the Niagara Region, but is now part of scenic Jordan Village. It was founded after the American Revolution by a United Empire Loyalist was forced to leave his home in New York. The rock forming this waterfall is the same as that which forms Niagara Falls.

Juno was a regular visitor. I do not usually consider personal pictures to be photography, whatever that mean; however Juno was not our pet, just a visitor that came to stay for a while and the would be on his way. So I suppose that his portrait is valid.

I believe this is a shot of Meech Lake in Gatineau Park, Québec. We hiked a trail to a scenic lookout that was above the lake, however the view from that highest point was disappointing. (See here.) Meech Lake was poingnant at the time due the failed Meech Lake Accord spearheaded by Prime Minister Brian Mulrooney. The failure of this agreement between the provinces and the federal government led to in increase in separatist sentiment in the Province of Québec. Separatism culminated to the 1995 "Oui ou Non" referendum. The Non side triumphed with only 50.58% of the vote, just barely keeping the country unified. Only three years after this photo was taken the Sponsorship Scandal errupted, where it bacame evident that much of the federal funds intended to support the Non vote were mismanaged.

A view of our island campsite on Crown Land near Chapleau, Ontario, Canada.
In the summer of 2000 I went on a fishing trip on some crown (government managed) land near Chapleau, in Northern Ontario. We followed a pair of tracks off of a logging road to get to the boat launch. From there, it was still good boat ride to get to the island where we camped. It was a true Canadian experience.
