November arrived with drenching rains, howling winds, and even snow that was not magical at all, but heavy and damaging to trees that still held their autumn leaves. Sadly, I've lost two of my favorites :(

I apologize, Flickr friends, for not being around these last few days.
I have been preoccupied with my sick kitty, Mr. Meowzer, who, I suspect, swiped and ate some unspun, dyed wool from my spinning basket. At last today after a trip to the vet and conferences over the phone with them, he seems to be feeling better, and I can at last breath a sigh of relief. Who knows what gets into their feline brains. Please know that I have missed viewing your wonderful images!!
Since Hogwarts is my home, staying home for Christmas seems to be not so bad ...
I always liked this time of the year, the snowy silence full of expectations, the soft tinking of bells, occasionally interrupted by singing armours or suddenly swooping snowballs.
Although there is still much homework to do, I'm really looking forward to one of our pleasurable Christmas traditions and the best sport ever : Base-jumping in the restricted section!
But first we have to get our portkey to Stonehenge to celebrate the Solstice and the Christmas Star in the Great Conjunction 🌠 - oh, what a night!

The third of three beaches we visited, yesterday, on Lake Huron, and the loveliest...
A beautiful, sunny afternoon very quickly turned to a scene from "Harry Potter": Thunder and lightning, punishing winds lashing the sand against newly-tanned (actually, quite red!) tender skin, and the storm front reminded me of the "Dementors" who 'drain peace, hope and happiness out of the air'.
Thrilling to watch but a wee bit scary for someone who is used to mostly drizzle and the odd black cloud.

The medieval colleges of Oxford were clearly the inspiration for H. K. Rowling to create the magical world of Hogwarts and Harry Potter. And among these the most spectacular is Christchurch College.
Several scenes of the films, especially the first three, were shot in this impressive Gothic staircase. In both the movies and in reality, this is the magnificent preamble to the great dining room, both at Hogwarts and Christchurch... although the halls themselves are both similar and different.
These are the cloisers used as part of the set when filming Harry Potter. These corridors were transformed into the corridors of Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the films of JK Rowling's first two books, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Every trip to Exeter I try to take a stroll down this atmospheric passageway. Apparently JK Rowling recently announced on Twitter that Ganddy Street was not the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series. She studied French with Greek and German at Exeter University.
