Our trip on Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica.

Pin setup for undercut. This set up trimmed mould

and blocks using the back as a guide. It worked

satisfactorily. A device to center the bit and pin

would be an improvement.

Turlock Trip Trains, 25 November 2023

I drove south on State Route 99 to Turlock, California on 25 November and in Manteca, where the UP Fresno Sub meets up with 99, I noticed the signals were red. I soon caught up to the DPUs of a southbound manifest train and managed to get a shot out the car window as the freeway went over the track at the south end of Modesto. I got ahead of the train and shot it in Ceres, then was back on the freeway when I saw a northbound that UP 8057 had met in Ceres siding. That one I got from the shady side, unlike the photos of 8057. A grain mill at Keyes, California has a GP9 owned by A L Gilbert that I've been wanting to photograph and I got some out the window shots as I passed. There is no way to get into the mill, so this, too, was a shady side shot from the freeway. The last shots were at the north side of Turlock. The tracks separate from 99 in Turlock for a few miles. I found a spot with an irrigation canal and orchard. Coming north, I got an *eh* shot of a southbound train in Turlock. I was trying to find a good spot and settled for a parking lot.

Google maps tells me it was about 10km long. That's not too bad but it doesn't portray the up and down and up and down and up and down of crossing the river valley

Hilly terrain on Rt 206 in Montgomery Township, NJ, on a drizzly spring day.

My workplace moved and I got a new bike route, very nice along Klara sjö.

The Route 381 bridge from the Great Allegheny Passage bridge in Ohiopyle.

Made from pine scraps and a little poplar I had laying around.

A non active portion of the Route. The alignments changed over the years, leaving some sections abandoned and dead-ending. The Interstates were built right on top of some portions.

The only part we got to see. Soon after this, there was an incident* on 101 North that stopped traffic for hours. After sitting there a while, I thought it would be smart to try and turn around on the median...

*Incident = a car chase and armed standoff with hostages. Yay SoCal.

I had to take this rural route.

A little teaser of what my route in Trainz is going to consist on. Guess the place.
