Subject: Get Pushed!
Hello!
I'm your partner this week for Get Pushed. I've been looking through your (extensive) stream, and you have many different types of photos already, so I'm going to go for a conceptual push. Your challenge is to create a photo inspired by your favorite song. Have fun!
while its an oldie, and back in the day it was a fav!!! for sure, you cant help but dance when it comes on...even today.. and back in my teens , i dont even think anyone realized they were dancing to a religious song.. we just loved the sound. so here ya go Holly, i hope ive met your challenge.
The Classic Beauty finale. Wish me luck guys!
We had to do a 90's inspired 4page editorial.
And I decided to follow the style of the MiuMiu ads.
They are perhapse a bit simple, but I like every shoot nevertheless, I think it's good I went for simplicity.
I put a lot of work in this, and I don't know what will be the result, but I know I enjoyed the contest and that's most important, right? :)
But I still am nervous... Gah.
Cross your fingers for me guys! :)
AusNTM Round7. Final 4. Wow. Who would've thought my draggishugly little duckling would make it this far! D: Not me, what with all the amazing competitors all the way on! I just hope this is enough to take me to the top three, but I'm not that sure, seeing all the other entries. No matter what, it was fun to be in this contest, and PETE BE DA BEST HOST EVAH! <3
I like this actually. XD
For the 7th round of the Get Pushed challenge I was paired with my lovely life through a lens , a wonderful young photographer with a very good eye for composition. You really should go and see her photostream.
She challenged me to do a fake tilt-shift image and gave me a website that would generate the effect. I decided to try to create this instead in Photoshop. Then I just couldn't help but slide it just a bit for Sunday...
Hope everyone is having a great day! :)
This is my Round 7 submission for the Get Pushed!! challenge group, where entrants are paired up and challenge each other to shoot something different than they ordinarily would shoot.
For Round 7 I was paired with Guada(lupe) who's beautiful PhotoStream has a wide range of subject variety, wonderful high contrast shots that make use of light and shadows superbly. Well worth a look if you get the chance.
Guada issued my challenge as follows:
I would like to see a photo of food... here are the rules:
1. You can't shoot outdoors.
2. it has to be something you love to eat, one of your favourites.
3. try to convince me that is the best thing ever (ok, if you convince me I should try it, I'll take it!!).
Hmmmm, a Kebab after I've been to the pub is probably out of the question then!
So, this is the shot and here's the recipe -
PhotoJunkets Irish Stew Variant
* Lamb - scrag end in this case as it was cheap from the local butchers, but any cheap lamb, mutton or beef will do - beef shin is usually very cheap.
* Some potatoes, a mixture of waxy and fluffy ones,
* Carrot and onion, cut them big, this is a chunky meal
* Stock - if you are clever you can make stock but I just use vegetable stock
* Sprig of thyme - we don't eat this, it's just for flavour
* Greens - I used peas, my favourite is shredded kale, but anything you've got: cabbage, beans, celery, etc.
Brown the roughly cut meat, add the chopped onions and sweat for a minute or two.
Season with lots of pepper and some salt.
Add the carrots, waxy potatoes and top up with the stock (remember we have more potatoes to add later on, so don't fill the pan all the way up).
Add the sprig of thyme and simmer, skim as required.
After about 30 min add the fluffy potatoes and leave for another 30+ min (times vary depending on the meat, either way it's got to be tender).
About 5-10 minutes before serving, add your greens.
Serve.
I like mine with oatcakes, but bread (traditionally soda bread) is always a good alternative.
Normally I don't add parsley to the top of my food, but for this shot I snipped some off my herb box and added :-)
Thanks for the push, Guada, I managed to take a couple of shots before I devoured this and another bowl :-)
