Today (30 November, 2021) on the news: this coal-fired power station (one of biggest polluters of the Netherlands, build in 2015) will be closed, maybe as soon as within the next two months. Necessary for NL to be able to live up to the Paris Agreements. There's three more coal fired power stations to go.

Close to the Old Harbour and a stone’s throw away from the Central Library, overlooking the weekly market, the thirty-eight cube houses provide an extraordinary variety due to the tilted impression made by the construction. The cube house has three floors with a living area of 100 square metres, with the third floor sometimes being used as a city garden.

Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam Zuid, Kop van Zuid, Rijnhaven, Young painters, Still lifes (slightly cut from all sides)

On my way to HNY, I encountered these girls who had appropriated one of the new rough settees on the edge of the Rijnhaven to do some serious painting. It is somewhat surprising that they chose this highly urban location to produce still lives.

This is number 276 of People at work.

Been to Rotterdam for several days. The first day was rainy and misty. I hoped for a better weather, but I managed to grab some shots of this atmosphere.

You can find more shots on my behance account or my personal website, check them out.

The history of Rotterdam is most of all found in its boats in the harbours and other waters.

In the centre you can see the boat Geertruida.

In 1906, the 'Geertruida' slides off the slipway at the Gebroeders Boot in Leiderdorp. She is named after the wife of owner and skipper Hendricus Johannes Maas. The ship is mainly used to transport building materials to Brussels. The 'Geertruida' regularly ships sand, stone and gravel to the Belgian capital. The first 50 years, the ship is towed by tugboats. Later, the 'Geertruida' is given an engine with which it sails under its own power to Belgium, but also regularly to Germany.
