Close to the Old Harbour and a stone’s throw away from the Central Library, overlooking the weekly market, the thirty-eight cube houses provide an extraordinary variety due to the tilted impression made by the construction. The cube house has three floors with a living area of 100 square metres, with the third floor sometimes being used as a city garden.

Rotterdam is often compared to Manhattan.
I haven't been to Manhattan but I can say that Rotterdam makes a stunning impression with its architecture.
The city was completely destroyed during the 2nd World War.
However, architects and builders worked wonderfully and created a magnificent modern city.
Been to Rotterdam for several days. The first day was rainy and misty. I hoped for a better weather, but I managed to grab some shots of this atmosphere.
You can find more shots on my behance account or my personal website, check them out.

The history of Rotterdam is most of all found in its boats in the harbours and other waters.
In the centre you can see the boat Geertruida.
In 1906, the 'Geertruida' slides off the slipway at the Gebroeders Boot in Leiderdorp. She is named after the wife of owner and skipper Hendricus Johannes Maas. The ship is mainly used to transport building materials to Brussels. The 'Geertruida' regularly ships sand, stone and gravel to the Belgian capital. The first 50 years, the ship is towed by tugboats. Later, the 'Geertruida' is given an engine with which it sails under its own power to Belgium, but also regularly to Germany.

Rotterdam,
Work in progress: Het Depot, het Collectiegebouw voor Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.
"Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen is the first art storage facility in the world that offers access to a museum’s complete collection. The Depot has a different dynamic to that of the museum: there are no exhibitions, but you can browse amongst 151,000 artworks, alone or with a guide, and get behind-the-scenes glimpses of - among other things - conservation and restoration."
Central Library Rotterdam
Design 1982 by Jaap Bakema and Hans Boot
NL
Wijnhaven Rotterdam with many reflections.
The Wijnhaven was dug in 1613 as part of the construction of the Waterstad, the part of Rotterdam between Schielands Hoge Zeedijk and the Nieuwe Maas.
