"The Minster Church of All Saints Rotherham

All Are Welcome to Share The Good News

More commonly known as Rotherham Minster, the Minster Parish Church has stood at the heart of Rotherham town centre for over a thousand years.

Today it is a place of regular Christian worship, quiet contemplation, musical excellence, and a hub of community activity."

The Minster is an architecturally outstanding, Grade 1 listed, building that speaks of permanence and hope and is by far the most prominent buildingʻg in the town centre, where it has become adopted as an icon.

As well as a significant physical structure, the church hopes to continue on the path to becoming a major community and cultural facility and, in partnership with St Paul's Masbrough, contribute to the ongoing regeneration of the town centre.

Founded 937AD.

The Minster Church of All Saints or Rotherham Minster is the Anglican minster church of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. The Minster is a prominent example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture and various architectural historians have rated it highly. Nikolaus Pevsner describes it as "one of the largest and stateliest churches in Yorkshire", Simon Jenkins states it is "the best work in the county", and Alec Clifton-Taylor calls it the "glory of Rotherham". With its tall spire, it is Rotherham's most predominant landmark, and amongst the tallest churches in Yorkshire.

By way of a change from modern stuff another 70s shot that has brushed up quite a bit better than the original upload 4 years ago following a spell in Lightroom.

Peak no. 45137 "The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (T.A.)" approaches Holmes Junction shortly after leaving Rotherham with what's probably the 9.35am Carlisle - Nottingham (1M70) train on 16th September 1977. An 08 shunter can just be glimpsed above the oil tanks and, on the occasions I visited, it was generally in use.

This gritty industrial landscape of the 70s dominated by steel and metals has now all but disappeared, and the current view from the bridge where this shot was taken is barely recognisable.

Moored on the canal in the center of Rotherham, behind Tesco's

The narrow boat in the front displays a sign that reads:-

""Hen / Stag parties, office and birthday parties". I have never seen in move, can't think why?

Rotherham has both a river and a canal that pass through the town center. I have seen some excellent waterside developments around the country making the most of rivers and canals for leisure. However here the the only waterscaping appears to be the addition of submerged shopping trolleys from the nearby Tesco's .

GLOVERS OF ASHBOURNE

AIG6633, a Volvo B12B with Transbus Paragon body, was new in November, 2003, to local coach operator, Gordon's of Rotherham, as B12 WGS.

This vehicle appears to be owned by Yellow Bus Catering of Doncaster. Their advertising says that it was imported from Delaware, USA, in 2011 and converted to its current use as an American themed street food outlet. I believe it is an International S series chassis with bodywork by Integrated Coach Corporation. Seen here at Rotherham Hospital.
