In the Albayzin or Moorish quarter of Granada (UNESCO Heritage Site), beautiful architectural lines & angles are softened by Mother Nature.

When in England, we stayed with Sarah Fraser, my very good friend that I met on Flickr. While there, we met up with Gary Neave, also from Flickr, and we all went to Hastings, a wonderful coastal town. We took a funicular tram to the top of a rocky hill, and this was the view from the top, looking down at all the roofs and houses.

The roof of the Sydney Opera House has a whopping 1,056,000 glazed-white granite tiles which cover approximately 1.62 hectares sitting over the structure. Though they are meant to be self-cleaning, they still require maintenance & replacement. The impressive and subtle chevron pattern has glossy white-matte and cream-coloured tiles. These ceramic tiles are fungus-proof. The white and cream finish catch the light and mirror the sky from dawn to dusk every day of the year.
Roofs, gables, walls and street lights creating a harmony of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.

characteristic of most buildings in Bermuda, protection from sun and wind [another version of the photo has the sky cropped so that the roofs fill the frame more]
