Born and raised in Houston, Texas Laws is the fifth of eight children. He started playing the saxophone at the age of 11.

He attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, for two years. In 1972, Laws joined the fledgling group Earth, Wind & Fire, playing saxophone and flute on their album Last Days and Time. He left the band soon afterwards, long before they achieved their commercial success.

During 1975 Laws issued his debut album Pressure Sensitive on Blue Note Records. The album reached No. 25 on the Billboard Top Soul Albums chart. In 1976, Laws went on to release his second LP Fever. The album reached No. 13 on the Billboard Top Soul LPs chart.

Ronnie Laws is an American jazz, rhythm and blues and funk saxophonist. There are Sax Players and there are Sax players. But Ronnie is in my book of favourite instrumentalists.

Eight Tracks of sheer pleasure even at my age???

ok i have been doing a sort of video diary lately as its mainly for the family...but i now have to get more serious, this is really special though and i will tell you the story.. in the seventies i loved jazz funk and this guy ( ronnie laws ) was my hero, i was pregnant with olly in 78 and al would put the headphones on my tummy and turn it up full blast!! olly ended up loving jazz funk and when he got older and moved out he stole all my albums!! for years we heard nothing about ronnie laws and could find nothing on the internet. all of a sudden a few months ago olly rang me and said that ronnie was playing at the jazz cafe in london! i bought the tickets and we went last night,it is a small venue and we were front of stage and it was brilliant! and we ended up meeting the star himself and i was able to tell him the story and he asked me to tell his wife...you can see how happy olly is here...and what a big guy!!! :)

This vinyl album has long been out of production and a CD was never released.

Grace is the 2nd song on side 2 and one of my favorite sax songs by Ronnie Laws.
