Grazie ancora al mio amico Mimmo che mi ha portato a vedere una delle più belle scale di Roma.

A true open-air museum, Rome has preserved and enriched its beauty over the centuries. Each corner of the streets reveals a treasure, be it ancient, religious, architectural or even gastronomic. All roads lead to Rome, and one should not resist, simply take it and go, enjoy the beauty and admire the eternal city.

This aquaduct has stood the test of time and is still impressive. It looks even better when framed by wisteria.

Replicas of real Roman funeral monuments (and one altar - the one to the right in the back row). The originals are on display in various museums.

At the Archeosite - Aubechies-Beloeil, which both has a museum with many Roman finds and reconstructions of pre-historic housing and Roman buildings which would have been found in this part of the northern Roman empire.

This is not a before and after picture - this is two Roman copies of the original Greek bronze sculpture Discobolus by Myron, made sometime 450-460 B.C. The sculpture was incredibly popular so a lot of copies of it were made, these two are from the 2nd century A.D. - the one to the left is dated to the reign of emperor Hadrian, and the one to the right is slightly later with a date around 150 A.D This one is the best preserved of all the Roman marble copies out there. These two are on display at Museo Nazionale Romani, in Rome. Others can be found at for example the Vatican Museums and British Museum.

Shot at Backdrop Cove. The backdrop has a reflected picture of a Vatican-like basilica (I blurred and shadowed it out). Together with the lovely hat by COCO Designs. the scene put me in mind of an Audrey Hepburn look. So the title is just the mish mosh of those images in my head.

These were found when excavating the Roman Temple of Mithas. These can be seen at the London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE.

In the Snowdonia national park, 101683 heads away from Roman Bridge station with the 1145 Blaenau Ffestiniog - Llandudno service.

The Snowdon range was unusually cloud free on this fine summer day, which was presumably why I had chosen to drive from Dorset to Snowdonia that morning.

Looking at my records now, managing to drive the 260 miles that morning in time to shoot the 0935 from Blaenau sounds somewhere between heroic and stupid!

Boxford Roman mosaic is a mosaic at Boxford near Newbury, West Berkshire, England, rediscovered during an archaeological dig in August 2017. It dates from the Roman period. The 4th century (AD) mosaic is over 6 metres long. Its central panel is thought to show Bellerophon, at the court of either Iobates or Proteus, battling Chimera.

Anthony Beeson, an expert on Roman mosaics, said it is "without question the most exciting mosaic discovery made in Britain in the last 50 years and must take a premier place amongst those Romano-British works of art that have come down to modern Britons".

The mosaic was uncovered during a community archaeology project, investigating three Roman sites near to the village of Boxford, which was led by the Boxford History Project, the Berkshire Archaeology Research Group and Cotswold Archaeology, which began in 2011. Earlier in 2017, a villa "of modest size" was unearthed at Boxford. The mosaic was found at the southern end of this building. Only one half of the mosaic was uncovered. It was subsequently reburied, to ensure its preservation.

Further archaeology was undertaken in 2019 and an open day for the public occurred on Saturday 31st August 2019,

It will be covered again to preserve it for posterity.

My actual entry for the year challenge on RogueBricks.de is an Roman tower, standing somewhere at the border of the Roman Empire.

Based on my MOC "All along the Nerdtower" I changed main things on this one, including a base, the fence, figures, ... and it will be also shown on the exhibition Bricking Bavaria 2021 in Friedrichshafen (Germany) end of the week. So it is also showable from all sides :D

I am still in love with the color scheme of the tower, medium nougat and dark orange. Si no change on this.

If you are driving into Tarragona its always worth stopping to look at this most beautiful piece of historical architecture. The Pont de les Ferreres also known as Pont del Diable (Devil’s Bridge) is a Roman bridge, on the outskirts of Tarragona , in Catalonia, Spain. The aqueduct was added to the UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 2000.

Description from Wiki

The Tárraco aqueduct took water from the Francolí river, 15 kilometers north of Tarragona. It probably dates from the time of Augustus. The Pont de les Ferreres is composed of two levels of arches: the upper section has 25 arches, and the lower one has 11. All arches have the same diameter of 20 Roman feet. It has a maximum height of 89 ft and a length of 817 ft, including the ends where the specus (water channel) runs atop a wall.

At this point, at Chequers (not far from Flamstead, Hertfordshire), the River Ver crosses the ancient Roman road. This road, which used to be called "Watling Street", is now the A1583, a major trunk road with heavy lorry (truck) traffic. Recently, repairs have been carried out to make sure that the river stays underneath the road.
