My friend liked them but he would've liked it with a bit more cinnamon. But the form is just absolutely perfect, don't you think? =)
My very favorite Sushi Saurus Roll. If you're ever in the Long Beach make sure you go by.
Walking out of the restaurant:
My Dad: "There used to be a bar across the street over there that Ken and I went to all the time. Sad it's not there anymore. It was a nice bar. We did get kicked out though."
Me: "What did you get kicked out for?"
My Dad: "We got in a fight with a couple of surfers."
*this is the first time my dad has even mentioned "surfers" to me before and I'm completely fascinated.*
Me: "What happened?"
My Dad: "They were using really foul language."
I laugh
My Dad: "It was different back then! Swearing wasn't accepted like it is now! And they were saying really dirty things about women."
Me: "AND you just wanted to get in a fight."
My favorite part of going to places in Long Beach and LA with my parents are the stories random places always seem to manage to drag out of my father's brain. Shortly after this as we were driving back to my grandma's house we passed one of his first high-rise projects as an ironworker and he told us a lovely story about how one of his drunken coworkers knocked him off a beam, causing him to jump over to another beam, where he teetered and almost fell (many many stories to his death).

We're just five kids in the sand.
Talk'n and waven' our hands.
And dreamin' and thinkin' oh wouldn't it be grand,
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.
I had lunch at a bright little sushi & noodle house along Elgin Street. Ordered the Rainbow Roll (which is not a lunch cheapeat) for $9.95. They do have a selection of items that just fit the CheapEats price range for lunch and totally fit it for dinner.
