Photo: Ivan Stewart Collection. Class 37 37287 takes an empty rake of coal wagons North past Rogerstone Middle on 27th October 1978. The large expanse of land in the background contained a large hump marshalling yard. I understand that the yard closed in 1968 but the remnants can be clearly seen. I have seen a few pictures of the yard but not much detail. A hump used to exist to the left of the photo along with a GWR hump points box.

The Transport For Wales / Newport Transport fflecsi bus service has been extended to several services across the city from Sunday 08 August 2021. With the success of the Rogerstone and St. Julian's services, these new services will allow more people across Newport access to public transport by pre-booking a seat using TfW app or by phone.

A fleet of nine low-floor 16-seat buses have been allocated for the new services, surprisingly not all in TfW red and silver livery.

245 is shown on the approach to Newport Bridge on Monday morning 09 August 2021.

Stagecoach South Wales, 47696 [CN59 DWM]. Optare Solo. Photographed in late afternoon winter sunshine, passing through Raglan on a sunday working of route 60 from Monmouth to Newport. On Mondays to Saturdays the route is operated by Peakes Coaches, Pontypool who acquired it with the business of T. Ward (Town & Country Bus Service Ltd of Undy) at the end of 2011.

The bus is normally found working Rail Linc service 903 from Newport to Rogerstone, for which it is suitably branded.

MAX225E was a Bedford VAM14 / Duple C45F new in May 1967 to Seargeant , Rogerstone , which Wakes Services (Sparkford) Ltd acquired from them in April 1971 , when it was the newest coach in the fleet. It is parked at Sparkford in June 1982.

It was withdrawn in March 1983 , and later became a car transporter and then a mobile caravan in May 1994. It was last taxed to September 1994.

BYU339B was an unusual purchase for Wakes as it was already 15 years old when it was acquired from Newbury & Cooper , Maiden Bradley . It was a Bedford SB5 / Duple Bella Vega C41F , new to Smith , Pylle in October 1964. It was withdrawn around December 1982. The subsequent owner is not known , but it was last taxed to April 1985.

Wake's MAX 225E is a 1967 Bedford VAM14 with Duple Viceroy coachwork, seen pulling away from the stand in Yeovil Bus Station. Despite the lack of any destination display, it is clearly operating a local bus service as the driver wears crossed straps supporting cash bag and ticket machine.

It had been new to Sergeant of Rogerstone in South Wales and was acquired by Wake's in 1971.

From what I can see, not too many trains depart from Cardiff Central Platform 0, so thought I may as well photograph a 150 leaving from there whilst the opportunity arose!!

The Ebbw Vale Town service operates hourly from Cardiff Central at --:34 minutes past the hour, calling at Pye Corner, Rogerstone, Risca & Pontymister, Cross Keys, Newbridge, Llanilleth and Ebbw Vale Parkway, with an end to end journey time of just over an hour.

150264 takes out the 1534 departure.
