Well, we're all trying to learn new skills while we stay at home. At least he can say he tried. :)
For this week's Smile on Saturday group theme, Egg-ceptional.
I used to meet can chat with this gentleman on the streets of Bath for a few years. He was a common personality in the area around the Bath Abbey and was more than often a little worse for wear, but he spoke with an educated voice and mind. I always wondered what circumstance had lead him to his present way of life. Sadly he passed before I had to chance to know more but this portrait he allowed me to take of him clasping a leaf is one of my favs of the street people I meet.

The church building was built from 1829 to 1832 in the Federal architectural style. It was built with red bricks, "rounded archives, "a stepped gable" and "an octagonal bell tower.
The church played a specific role during the American Civil War of 1861-1865. On Sunday, September 13, 1863, Reverend Baker invited crew members of the Union USS Rattler gunboat to attend his service. However, Confederates burst into the church to arrest them. When other Union crew members found out about the Confederate violation of Sunday truce, they fired a cannonball at the church, which damaged its front wall. The damage is still visible to this day.
The challenge this week on Digitalmania is to make something in the style of Rodney Gates, of course it always has a touch of your own style as well. So this is my first one.
Thank you for looking and any comments are always very much appreciated. xx
Just below the Pool of Winds along Hardy Creek in the Columbia River Gorge, this is the lower cascade of Rodney Falls, as seen from on top of a big boulder in the middle of the creek.
Thanks very much for stopping by. I hope you are keeping healthy, safe, and sane, wherever you are in the world.
Visiting locomotive 50021 'Rodney' crossing Mytholmes Viaduct with the 09.25 Keighley - Oxenhope on Fri 21st June 2024, day 2 of the KWVR diesel gala.
Today I wandered across Rodney on the streets of Bath and we had a brief camera discussion, especially on the look of my Fuji X100V. Rodney loved the look of older cameras.
I loved the look of Rodney and his animal muppet t -shirt and football hat.

Rodney
Mississippi
Yes, this was taken in the best ghost town in Mississippi called Rodney. A town with quite a history. I shared this visit with "Buck" from Hattiesburg, a true southern character. I was struck by the friendliness of its people. I seen true poverty here in this state. Despite their situation all were kind to a white stranger from another state.
Buck commented as were soaking in the atmosphere in this loft, "I bet there was some real 'come to Jesus' sermons in here."

Rodney arrived a few days ago. He's 2 inches tall and weighs about as much as the flower he's holding. One puff of wind would blow him away. :)
Directly across the street where Jacks Chicken Basket Jazz Club was, is Fernando's Bar with cold beer. Fernando's is one of many of the colorful Latin themed painted building in this changed section of South L.A.! Where late night establishments herald in Jazz from the late 20's until the mid 50's. ! Years after the 1992 Rodney King riots in this neighborhood, many Mexican and other Latin decent families moved into the area due to the affordable housing cost, then the change began. The previous shots and this scene of Fernando's Bar represents a big part of South Los Angeles today!
