In the nave we find an impressive rococo pulpit (1741–1745), made in oak, gilded wood and white and black marble by Laurent Delvaux.
A portrait of one of the beautiful male ruffs in the breeding time. Now, two months later, they are brown-grey and look similar to the ladies they tried to impress so intensively in May. Isn't that a wonderful plumage?

In the 12th century church of Nävelsjö, Småland, there is an altar made by Johan Ullberg - he was from the south of Sweden and made quite a lot of them. It dates to 1761 and made in the Rococo style - but a rather more crude style than the one you would see in elegant palaces and great cathedrals. This is a small church far out in the country.

A view towards the park at Drottningholm palace.
The name Drottningholm literally means the Queen's islet, and is older than the building itself. It used to refer to a palace built in 1580 for the queen Katarina Jagellonica - but that place burned down in 1661, and the current house is the one that was built to replace it. It was on order from the queen Hedvig Eleonora - at the time queen dowager but also regent for her son Karl (Charles) XI that was underage when his father (Karl X) died. The palace was designed by one of Sweden's most well known architects: Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, and after his death the work was continued on by his (equally famous) son Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. The queen used it as a summer residence, and as a place for hunting. The palace continued to be in fashion throughout the 18th century, and got a partly rococo interior during the time of queen Lovisa Ulrika.
But the place fell out of fashion with the new Bernadotte dynasty in the early 19th century, being to closely connected with the earlier regime. The last new add-ons to the place was electricity and modern plumbing at the beginning of the 20th century - after that the focus has been on conservation and preservation. The royal family has lived there since 1981.

Construction began in 1625 on the site of a primitive and provisional chapel. The Church of the Society of Jesus, today known as San Bartolomé, must have been completed in the last third of the 18th century.
The building has a Latin cross plan with side chapels and a vault over the transept. The elevation has galleries between Corinthian pillars formed by balconies, with a Rococo decoration based on plant elements, rocaille and highlighted by mixtilinear mouldings.
There is no reference to the author, but there is to Tomás Núñez de la Barrera, who was hired to finish the construction.

The Palace of the Prince-Elector of the City of Trier was the residence of the Electors of Trier, i.e. the Archbishops of Trier, from the 17th century until 1794. The Renaissance and Rococo buildings were partly built on the site of the Roman basilica of Emperor Constantine. During the 19th century, the west wing of the palace was destroyed in order to restore the basilica to its original state.
After the Electors were ousted under Napoleon, the palace was used as barracks by French and Prussian troops in the 19th century until the beginning of the 20th century. The building was badly damaged during World War II. Then the buildings of economic activity, called lower castle, were completely demolished, except for the red tower and a portal. Today, the building houses several administrations. Part of the north wing is used by the Protestant community (Caspar Olevian room) while part of the south wing is used for representative purposes (reception rooms or performance halls).

18th century gravestones, churchyard of St John the Baptist, Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire. A gravestone is a religious statement, however, its style follows the ups and downs of secular fashion. Rococo was "in" from the middle of the 18th century with its cherubs and putti. Perhaps it does reflect a more liberal way to think of the afterlife. Director Janicza Bravo staged the Rococo Revival Room for the Met Museum's "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" exhibit.
From the Met's website:
"The Rococo Revival Parlor features furniture by one of the most innovative and virtuosic American cabinetmakers of the period in a room whose architectural elements–columnar screen, windows, doorway, doors, cornice, and rosette–are from the double parlor of a Classical Revival style villa built around 1850 in Astoria, Queens, for a prosperous businessman named Horace Whittemore (1813–1871)

The Bamberg town hall, Altes Rathaus, was built around 1467 on an island on the river Regnitz. it is connected to the mainland by two bridges. Originally influenced by Gothic, the building received Baroque and Rococo touches from Johann Jakob Michael Küchel in 1756.

Brought those from the Continent again!
Most unusual, these bicoloured Rococo Parrot Tulips, flowers with twisted, irregularly fringed petals.
Even their leaves are wild and 'Baroque'. They are weird even a little 'alien'? Are they "monstrous beauty or beautiful monster"?
Love them or hate them, Parrot Tulips are Spring's grand (bulb) showcase, big and beautiful, they have flamboyant flowers with streaks, ruffles and frayed edges.
Have a glorious day and thank you, M, (*_*)

Another one of the beautiful ruff males with their fantastic mating plumage. Everyone of them looks different.
Preysing-Palais, Munich, Germany
It is Munich’s first and most beautiful Rococo palace, quite a significant monument, both from an art-historical viewpoint and as a tourist attraction. Built in 1723-1728 by the electoral master builder Effner for Count Maximilian von Preysing-Hohenaschau, it was reconstructed after World War II by Erwin Schleich.
Especially famous is its imposing stairwell. As you proceed up the magnificent staircase you can enjoy the exquisite sweeping ornamental stuccowork — one of Munich’s most beautiful examples of aristocratic architecture.
Das Rokoko ist eine Stilrichtung der europäischen Kunst von etwa 1730 bis etwa 1780.
Rococo or Late Baroque, is an exceptionally ornamental and theatrical style of architecture, art and decoration which combines asymmetry, scrolling curves, gilding, white and pastel colors, sculpted molding, and trompe-l'œil frescoes to create surprise and the illusion of motion and drama.
