The Rococo interior of the Freising Cathedral - some change history below:
The cathedral of Freising was built in Romanesque style from 1159 to 1205. First change to the interior was the replacement of the flat Romanesque wooden ceiling by a Gothic vault ceiling during 1481 to 1483. In a further change during the Baroque period the Gothic vault ribs were removed, the final change was the Rococo decoration created around 1724 by the brothers Cosmas Damian Asam and Egid Quirin Asam.

This small building in early Rococo style was a gift from Elector Karl Albrecht to his wife Amalie, after whom the building is named. It was built from 1734 to 1739 and its main use was as a hunting lodge for pheasant hunting.

In the nave we find an impressive rococo pulpit (1741–1745), made in oak, gilded wood and white and black marble by Laurent Delvaux.
A portrait of one of the beautiful male ruffs in the breeding time. Now, two months later, they are brown-grey and look similar to the ladies they tried to impress so intensively in May. Isn't that a wonderful plumage?

In the 12th century church of Nävelsjö, Småland, there is an altar made by Johan Ullberg - he was from the south of Sweden and made quite a lot of them. It dates to 1761 and made in the Rococo style - but a rather more crude style than the one you would see in elegant palaces and great cathedrals. This is a small church far out in the country.

18th century gravestones, churchyard of St John the Baptist, Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire. A gravestone is a religious statement, however, its style follows the ups and downs of secular fashion. Rococo was "in" from the middle of the 18th century with its cherubs and putti. Perhaps it does reflect a more liberal way to think of the afterlife. The Esterházy Palace at Fertőd is the greatest Baroque-Rococo monument complex in Hungary. On the site of the Palace, Duke Joseph Esterházy initiated the construction of a hunting lodge with twenty-two rooms in 1720, based on the plans of the Viennese architect, Erhard Martinelli. However, the golden age of the Palace began when Nicholas Esterházy (also known as Miklós ‘the Magnificent’) succeeded to the ducal title.
Utilising the grandeur of 18th century Baroque-Rococo architecture, Duke Nicholas enlarged the palace, and with the help of Nicolaus Jakoby; he created a large garden with several alleys. At the French Garden with an Opera House and a Marionette theatre and employed German theatre companies as well as Italian and French ballet dancers. The orchestra of the Palace led by Joseph Haydn the great musician and composer, the chamber composer and conductor at Eszterháza, was well-known all over Europe.
The second golden period of Eszterháza came about at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The suites of the Palace and the French Garden were restored for Duke Nicholas Esterházy IV. and his wife, Countess Margaret Cziráky. Enchanted by Eszterháza the Countess spent her dowry on the restoration of the palace and the gardens. The modernisation of the park started in 1902. Among the designers of the gardens was Anton Umlauft, one of the best-known gardeners in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
Mating season of the Ruffs. The male have a fantastic plumage at this time, and they always remind me a bit on the opulent lifestyle and fashion of the Rococo era

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen!
You can see for yourself what this Rococo tulip was saying!!!
I AM made to ENRAPTURE!
I am sensual,
Do I make your toes curl with pleasure?
For years I 'experimented' in the studio, to get that Flemish painter's light? Well, I was born in Flanders, it must be in my blood? LOL.
With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comment on my winning image, M, (* _ *)

Director Janicza Bravo staged the Rococo Revival Room for the Met Museum's "In America: An Anthology of Fashion" exhibit.
From the Met's website:
"The Rococo Revival Parlor features furniture by one of the most innovative and virtuosic American cabinetmakers of the period in a room whose architectural elements–columnar screen, windows, doorway, doors, cornice, and rosette–are from the double parlor of a Classical Revival style villa built around 1850 in Astoria, Queens, for a prosperous businessman named Horace Whittemore (1813–1871)

A Ruff, showing its mating plumage. These birds always remind me on the fashion of the times of the Rococo, or maybe on a dragqueen, or also on a diva in a movie of the fourties. Thinking of this I had to try out if black and white will look also nice on the ruff - he may forgive me as he will for sure not look like a girl instead of impressing them.. :-)

Una decorazione a stucco della terrazza di casa in villa Lignola , una delle ville vesuviane progettata nella metà settecento ma che non ha mai visto i fasti previsti nel progetto per intervenute suddivisioni della proprietà.
Another one of the beautiful ruff males with their fantastic mating plumage. Everyone of them looks different.
Preysing-Palais, Munich, Germany
It is Munich’s first and most beautiful Rococo palace, quite a significant monument, both from an art-historical viewpoint and as a tourist attraction. Built in 1723-1728 by the electoral master builder Effner for Count Maximilian von Preysing-Hohenaschau, it was reconstructed after World War II by Erwin Schleich.
Especially famous is its imposing stairwell. As you proceed up the magnificent staircase you can enjoy the exquisite sweeping ornamental stuccowork — one of Munich’s most beautiful examples of aristocratic architecture.
Das Rokoko ist eine Stilrichtung der europäischen Kunst von etwa 1730 bis etwa 1780.
Rococo or Late Baroque, is an exceptionally ornamental and theatrical style of architecture, art and decoration which combines asymmetry, scrolling curves, gilding, white and pastel colors, sculpted molding, and trompe-l'œil frescoes to create surprise and the illusion of motion and drama.
