This was taken with the CLAMPcamera app. It's kind of a fun little toy, tho I find it not the easiest camera app ever to work with.

The Year 1850 on Pilgrim's Rock shows the place that European settlers first set foot in the harbour. The location of the rock is well inland from the sea, because much of Lyttelton's land has been reclaimed from the ocean since the Pilgrims arrived.
As part of the Garden of the Gods is the Rock Ledge Ranch where General Palmer lived. It was a working ranch that continues today. With a blacksmith to making fig pudding, Rock Ledge Ranch is a site to see.

This fascinated me on holiday in Jersey.
Sheer Volume of Weight held it in place but it is just perched on a slope above a gorge with a small rock wedged behind.
Rocking chair. It belonged to my great-great grandmother Jennett Hewitt, who lived in Canada in the 1800s.

Local legend has it that the cross in this stone appeared after a lightning strike. Prior to that moment it was just another rock near a cottage. On seeing the transformation, the property owner transported the stone to it's present location and waited for the miracles to begin. Many local folk won't speak of the stone. Probably because they don't know about it. Or because there is some doubt about the validity of the signature of Mother Teresa rumoured to be on the underside. Regardless; let there be rock!
This shot is just the stone as it sits. I may use the image later to create something different; as it seems a subject well suited to use as an element in something weird and wonderful.
Orbicula granodiorite. The concentric and spoke-like patterns, called orbicules, grew as the rock cooled from its hot molten state. The dark areas are full of iron minerals. Dark and light circles developed as the iron concentration varied while the rock was cooling. During cooling, there were a limited number of points around which orbicules could grow.Over time, they settled together under the force of gravity. This rock is from Mount Magnet, Western Australia.
We installed rubber mats to protect the observatory extension cable at stress points where the cable is draped over sharp rocks and deep crevasses. Our cable lay across this rugged submarine mountain range was a challenging operation! (N47° 56.9693′, W129° 5.4079′; depth: 2110.479m)
