day 15 of the November photo challenge: pride. I inherited these from my grandpa D.O., my grandmother's second husband, who died several years ago. He was a doctor, a war hero, a mathematician, and a complete genius who somehow still found time to collect rock and mineral samples from all over the world. I am proud to have geological nerdery in common with him.

My man dragged me up hill and down dale last week - over rock and tussock and all over the place. The consolation was that it was during The Golden Hour - the lighting was lovely! and so I got a couple of shots in.
There are some occasions when it can be nice to be the partner of a sufferer of GAS - Geocaching Addiction Syndrome...

Another female form discovered in the Karoo. This time shaped in solid rock.
This is what happens when the rock sheds a shell instead of splitting, showing the lighter inner texture.
