Large rock deposited by a retreating Glacier during the Ice Age 10,000 years ago, unlike the surrounding rock and left perfectly balanced as you see it here. Known locally as the Balance Rock, geologists estimate it travelled 40 miles in a northwest to southeast direction and deposited by the Glacier here at Bar Harbor, Maine.

The Rock Springs Historical Museum was built in 1894. It served as the City Hall, Police Station and Fire Station for Rock Springs until the early 1980's.
Very stormy weather in Gibraltar, so we didn’t see it at its best. A rabbit warren of winding, narrow streets, clustered up the slope to the Rock. The architecture was quite quaint in the centre of town but very boxlike apartments all around. Parking was very difficult on the congested streets.
