A star trail image was made above a rock cairn of Sagittarius and Scorpius. Ruddy Mars can be seen just to the right of the rock pile. The image was made of 66 twenty second exposures taken with a Canon T6s and a 17-40 mm f/4L lens. (ISO 400)
European Rock Pipit, in a larger composition (which I mostly prefer).
Doesn't always have to be that close.
Handheld shot, distance about 20 mtrs.
The other night, I dug out a box of some of my darkroom prints from college. Many have deteriorated over time, so I thought it was time to try to preserve them digitally. My scanner won't scan these days, so these are photos of the prints captured as naturally as possible. I had to do some cropping, but they are basically as printed and mounted originally in the early 70's. Some don't have names so I'll just leave it as a file number.
Chicken Rock is a very small island just south west of the Isle of Man. The lighthouse on it was established in 1875 and has been automated since 1960

I am (very slowly!!!) starting to disassemble my Space 2019 builds and packing them away.
It will take a long time, because I want to pack them in their original form and in numbered bags like they were when I bought them.
Figuring out what I have modified in the last year and digging up all the original bricks is taking a lot of time.
But building the sets once more in their original form is fun again.
All in all it will take several months before I am completely ready to let go of space 2019. It is just not that interesting for images I thing.
Thurlestone Rock is a fine sea stack in the shape of an arch sitting in the bay of Thurlestone village, South Devon. It was quite adventurous getting to that viewpoint and involved scrambling over slippery rocks and jumping over rock pools and streams but I made it with dry shoes and could get a photo with the rock formation showing the arch. In the distant background Burgh Island can be seen.
A Rock Island Rail Train passes through Lurand, MS. heading south to Swan Lake to interchange with Canadian National.
Solid Rock
Goanna
Out here nothin' changes
Not in a hurry anyway
You can feel the endlessness
With the comin' of the light o' day
You're talkin' 'bout a chosen place
You wanna sell it in a marketplace
Well
Well just a minute now
You're standin' on
Solid rock
Standin' on sacred ground
Livin' on borrowed time
And the winds of change
Are blowin' down the line
Right down the line
It’s not often (ever really) that I’ll take the camera out in the midday sun. It’s even more rare that it won’t be on a tripod.
Broke both of these self imposed rules on Sunday. We had been driving for a while, and my girls needed lunch, so a man is taking his life into his hands when he wants to stop roadside to have a look at a ‘composition’.
I jumped down into the scrub, watching step by step for any sign of an over friendly snake, and knocked out a few quick hand held images.
Hope you like ‘“Solid Rock”
Cheers, Mike

A little side trail off the Split Rock Side Trail takes you through this fissure, which parallels the escarpment face.
Former Canadian National C40-8, now Rock Island Rail C42-9 #2127 is seen here resting at Sumner, MS. on a beautiful September morning.
My mother is an artist, and she painted this rock with a portrait of Jane.
She even captured the look of a booger on Jane's nose.

My entry to Bio-Cup 2021 Round 1. The theme was Media and Entertainment, with my subtheme being Music.
I’ve wanted to do a Crystal King revamp for a really long time, and such a terrible pun gave me a great opportunity to do so. I knew right from the start that I just had to give him a little crystal mohawk, with the leather jacket and speaker being added later on as I explored the concept. When I finished, he did end up being rather top heavy due to the guitar, so I attached one of those old 6x2x2 weighted bricks to his back, which surprisingly solved the issue.

The picture quality’s better but I prefer the angle of the one I used.
Castle Rock State Park. Just a bit southeast of San Jose. It's amazing how easy it is to escape the crowds of Silicon Valley / San Francisco.
