What do you get when you put a mullet wig on a little kid and have him stick his tongue out? One cute fuckin kid, thats what! This photograph actually cost money to make. $2.04 to be exact! for what? talent of course! Yes, we had to bribe him with money to cooperate! At 3 years old he knows that with only a few dollars he can buy a toy! I can see this being the start of something very bad! "Rylan, please try this new food" "how much you gunna pay me?" good thing he's not my kid! This actually started this afternoon when my father, his grandfather got down on one knee, handed him a dollar and said "now, buddy… if you get Momoo(Grandma), Daddy and Uncle Mike to each give you a dollar, you'll have enough for a toy" He didn't get this concept right away because when asked if he needed another dollar he would respond with a convincing and innocent "but, I don't' need another dollar, I already have one" greedy he is not! Finally after a little explaining, we got him to understand and he then asked for one dollar from each of us. The odd thing is, with only 4.00 dollars he managed to walk out of Walmart with an $8.98 toy! Oh if I only had that power of persuasion!

So 'Lil Rocker came about when Shawn briefly put the mullet wig on Rylan the other day to make him laugh. Then, early today Shawn came up to me and asked if I had an idea yet. I hadn't had anything in mind and when he suggested this, I was all in!

Setup was simple as most of the work would be done in photoshop. Although, the setup may have been simple it was a bit funny to see. Out of pure laziness I had opted for my small crappy stands that don't go above 3 feet, the cstands were in the car and I didn't feel like carrying more than 15lbs into the house! I figured since I'd only be shooting little man I'd reduce the size of the studio. The backdrop was only 4 feet tall, the beauty dish was boomed so low you'd close-line yourself if not careful and the edge lights were even with the top of his head. It truly looked like a miniature studio! Perhaps something akin to what a hobbit or a munchkin would use!

The first $1.04 bought the rocker pose with the tongue out. The final dollar was used to purchase the framed shot I needed for the family portrait I did on Day 242. Quick shoot for a not so quick edit. In a rush to edit I didn't get to take a picture of the mini studio so you'll have to just re-read the description and picture it!

Post Production:

This shot may be tall in stature but the layers pallet sure is! 52 layers including, masks, adjustment layers and overlays. I didn't want to put him in an environment as I felt it would take away from him. I did however, experiment with light painting. Streaks and particles were added for the sole purpose of seeing what they looked like. The Fog was added to tie the Star power picture and this one together since they were similar in theme. All in all I'd say it turned out pretty cool! The only problem was, I couldn't decide on a background color. I kept flip flopping between brown, emerald green and blue. Brown won after Joyce and I had a virtual Pow Wow. The brown complimented the image without taking away from it.

So, I now have a little over 24 hours until I board the plane to Nevada. I still have yet to do laundry, pack, take inventory or even decided how much gear I'm taking. I do know that I'm leaving the C-Stands home as I've ordered lightweight stands and had them shipped straight to Nevada. Only problem is they won't arrive until Tuesday! I may be doing a few days of simpler shots. That is unless I find a few voice activated light stands! Hey… You never know!

I think now I'm going to reinstall the OS from scratch so that I have a clean system for the trip! I just hope everything goes smooth!

We'll see…

Strobist: Just one flash on a lightstand to the right, the flash on the left did not fire :-/

I did a pseudo DRI processing on the raw file to pull out the shadows and to save the image.

Lessons learned:

- The Yongnuo rf transmitters are not made for long distances

- Umbrellas on lightstands need weight at the base :-/

Messing around with light

With a bit of discussion from @dollsahoy and @cheshiretiffy I decided to peel off the Rockers decal from the super torn up shirt and decided to put it on a plain tank top.

I attached it using a piece of baking paper on top then ironing it to the shirt. At first I used the cotton setting but it just ended up messing the top layer of plastic in the decal, and it really didn’t bond to the shirt. Also the parts that were already curled up didn’t wanna flatten.

So I lowered the heat setting super low, and just rested the iron on top the baking paper for about 15 minutes. It was tense cuz I constantly checked to make sure nothing caught on fire.

It ended up bonding most of the decal to the shirt asides from a few of the corners, and it flattened the decal so it didn’t curl up as much.

I may fabric glue the stray corners down when I can but otherwise it was a simple enough task lol…

The new Rocker Harley Davidson - behind the scenes shooting episode 2 of Two Wheel Motion... TwoWheelMotion.info

Shot in Aschaffenburg, at the industrial port, at sundown. This one is shot with the 10-20 Sigma at 10 mm.

Strobist: I used the internal popup flash, set on full power, to combat the sunlight.

Photoshop: Not that much: some minor cloning, color adjustment, slightest sharpening, some minor dodge and burn.

So I decided to finally glue down the rest of the decals on these Rockers shirts and ironed them properly so they look practically new lol.

Rock on !

Anyone know who made this rocker?

The second of 3 pictures scanned from the Book Ready Steady Go!

The book is about growing up in the 1950s & 60s, with mention of the Mod & Rockers.

I'm not sure what the motorbike is here, it looks like a twin cylinder engine.
