#5shotchallenge ••• #flora
I'm officially having fun with this Flora challenge. Even though all of the flora shots that I'm posting are shot with roughly the same combo, rest assured that I have been attacking this challenge from all angles and with a ton of combos. It just so happens that I prefer my flora symmetrical, and on the monotone side.
This shot::
yup, you guessed it… I shot this with #Salvador84 + #RockBW11, snipped of the edges, zipped it through #Geló a couple times, and then overlaid some #ndapatterns to finish it off.

I'm pretty sure that these qualify as flora. And if they don't... it won't be the first time that I've broken a few rules.
Shot with what seems to be my go to flora combo, #Salvador84 + #RockBW11, then chopped off the border & slapped some color geometrics on top using #Geló.
psssst.... don't tell @lauriekeiko, but I picked these foxy tails from the side of her house.
moving right along with my #5shotchallenge ••• #flora
Believe it or not, this shot is pure Hipstamatic/ #noedit, it is however cropped.
the combo::
#Salvador84 + #RockBW11 + #HipstaMultiExposure
the story::
In an effort to create some interesting floral photography, I snapped a few shots of a single rose from my yard, using Salvador + RockBW11. I got some cool stuff… but not what I was looking for, even though I didn't really know what it was that I was looking for. I then decided to stray from the calculated and controlled trail of Salvador and shoot some Hipsta Multiple Exposure, I'm always surprised with my MultiEx results.
Imagine the "oh crap" sneer on my face when I realized that I had forgotten to switch lenses and had just shot a few Multis using the Salvador lens. From my experience, MultiEx + Salvador rarely equals anything short of eyeball chaos. But I fell madly in love with this space oddity of a rose.
For an iPhone photo, I like this one a lot. I think I might print this one a bit bigger than the 4x4's I've been printing.
Has anyone tried the 8x8 aluminum prints from PostalPix? I just received an order of (60) 4x4 prints from PostalPix, and I'm quite pleased with the quality and the quick turnaround time ... I ordered them on 4/27 and received them on 5/1.
I also ordered some miniprints from Printstagram. The turnaround was quite long ... like about 4 weeks! I didn't realize the company was based in Taiwan! However; the prices were quite reasonable and the prints are really quite cute. But I think they were just too small. I prefer larger prints for the baby book I am making. I don't want to package a magnifying glass with the book for viewing purposes!!
I also placed an order with Hipstamart {the Hipstamatic Folk}. I ordered a 96-pack {seemed expensive} but it turns out that with shipping & tax, it works out to .43 cents a print and with PostalPix, it was .32 cents a print. Ordering from the iPhone with Hipstamart means you can only order images that were saved within the Hipstamatic App {a bummer if you've exported to Instagram for further editing}. However; you can also order from them online and aren't limited to any App whatsoever. That being said, I think they need to do a bit more work on the web interface ... a 'select all' button would've been nice!! I placed the Hipstamart order on April 30th. I'm waiting to see what the turnaround time will be, and I'm anxious to see the quality.
Finally, a new company opens their virtual doors on Friday: Snapstagram. I will give them a spin and see how they work out {been a lot of hype on them so it will be interesting}.
If anyone has gotten 4x4 prints done by anyone else that I haven't mentioned, I'd be very interested in hearing about it.
Sorry I haven't been around much. I've become a full time baby-sitter for the next few weeks {Rachel is back at work}; and I'm taking this time to finish up a baby book for her. I plan on leaving then and want to have it done before I leave so I've been hustling ... in between feeding, changing and caring for Sammy!! I thought I'd have more time for image posting on Flickr and visiting all my peeps. NOT SO!! But I will be on the road soon ... which will give me much more Flickr time!!
Thanks for keeping up with me when I have managed to post; and I apologize for such a LONG post! I really do want to hear about other printing options for camera phone/square prints.
