July 14th 2015 is the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn. The mountain, which is probably the most photographed in the world, was in the headlines yesterday too: in preparation for the anniversary celebrations, Swiss mountaineering specialist Mammut, together with the Zermatt mountain guides traced the route over the Hörnligrat ridge in a chain of lights, paying homage to the first ascent of the roped party with Edward Whymper.

In Vorbereitung auf die Jubilaeumsfeierlichkeiten zu 150 Jahren Erstbegehung des Matterhorns, zeichnete der Schweizer Bergsportspezialist Mammut zusammen mit den Zermatter Bergfuehrern in einer Lichterkette die Route ueber den Hoernligrat nach.

Purolator, the inventor of the automotive oil filter in 1923, came to LACED for a micro-site to help showcase their Group 7 automotive filtration products; especially their new and improved Oil Filters.

 

Group 7 engineered and designed a smaller sized Oil Filter which packs the same punch as a regular-sized Oil Filter, but cuts down on manufacturing costs as well as inventory maintenance; which always means more savings for the consumer.

 

To show case this new change as well as Group 7’s line of filters, LACED created a microsite for users to easily find the product information they need. To further help the consumer, LACED worked with Purolator’s internal development team to create an Application Search which allows users to find the filters specifically designed for their car.

 

The main objective for this site was to educate distributors about the new and improved Oil Filters while also shining a light on the equally beneficial filter products Group 7 offers.

Skil Tools, a subsidiary of the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation and an international leader in the portable and bench-top power tool market approached us to create an interactive solution for their Father's Day, Skil Building Memories Challenge promotion. Collaborating with Skil's Ad Agency, LACED created an interactive blog; where users could share their favorite Father's Day memories and the projects that they worked on together, by posting a note on a work bench. Additionally, users could comment on notes posted by others. Users were provided 5 questions to share their memories of their experiences or click on a note to add a comment.

 

Designing and developing a solution for an interactive blog was the first step, the next step was building an Admin Panel to allow Skil's internal marketing team to manage it. LACED developed a Adobe Flex admin panel to allow Skil's internal marketing team to moderate the interactive blog, in case there were any profanities. This simple to use tool notified Skil's marketing team via e-mail that there was a new post. They could then view the post by logging into the Admin Panel, and see the last updated post, along with any associated comments.

 

There were some great Father's Day memories shared, and commented on, help building the Skil brand with it's consumers, and community. The micro site was a success and Skil’s target audience had a place to share their memories of their fathers and the projects they worked on.

Challenge: Design and install a control system for chrome and zinc plating lines that does more than chrome and zinc plate injector components.

 

IAS Corp. Solution:

 

Zinc and Chrome plating lines were constructed by IAS Corp. for a company in Toano, VA to chrome and zinc plate injector components.. Line 1 is used for chrome plating and Line 2 for zinc plating. Each line is very easy to use. An operator loads a rack with the parts to be plated and rolls it to the end of the line, calls up recipe for that type of part on the PC control and hits the start button. From that point on all hoist movements to tanks are automatic. The control features custom software that allows for fine tuning of the recipe, control of system, and provides a log file of work done. Custom interface boards and remote monitoring for troubleshooting via the web are incorporated to minimize downtime.
