Yesterday in NYC at Gavin Brown's Enterprise, Threadless fans and staffers staged a silent attack against the use of a Threadless design, “When Pandas Attack” (which was originally a collab by Jimiyo and AJ Dimarucot). Rob Pruitt, the artist who allegedly misappropriated the design (to put it kindly) was actually in the gallery at the time, and was completely baffled. We’re sure the guy sneaking around in a panda suit helped our silent yet powerful cause too! Talk about art creating art creating one very confused “artist.”

Note: This room is actually square, but they painted curved edges onto the ceiling to create the illusion of a round room. Amazing!

Andy Warhol Monument by Rob Pruitt in Union Square (March 31 - October 2, 2011)
nyclovesnyc.blogspot.com/2011/04/i-shot-andy-warhol-monum...
The Andy Monument, a 10-foot-tall chrome statue of Andy Warhol by sculptor Rob Pruitt, was on display in the pedestrian plaza at 17th Street at the northeast corner of Union Square from March 30 to October 2, 2011. Pruitt fashioned the statue, commissioned by the Public Art Fund, by using digital scanning of a live model -- his friend and Cincinnati art collector Andy Stillpass -- and hand sculpting. Pruitt depicts Warhol in 1977, dressed in Levi's 501s, a Brooks Brothers blazer, wearing a Polaroid camera around his neck and carrying a Medium Brown Bag from Bloomingdale's.
The Monument, an homage to the Father of Pop Art, stands in front of the building at 860 Broadway, which now houses a PetCo, but was the former location of Andy Warhol's "Factory." Warhol started his Factory in 1968, where he made silkscreens and printed pagazines, at the nearby Decker Building, at 33 Union Square West before moving to Broadway and 17th Street in the 1970s. It was on this corner that Warhol could often be found standing, handing out copies of Interview Magazine, a publication he founded in 1969.

f(untitled), faces, was created by artist Rob Pruitt in 2019 for HYxOffTheWall. Translating his iconic, candy-colored smiley faces from a traditional gallery setting into the Hudson Yards space, Pruitt shares these marked pastel gradations with a new, expanded audience. This body of work is based on a childhood experience of viewing Mark Rothko paintings with his father, who joked, “Wouldn’t it be better if the artist had drawn a face on it?” Collectively composed within this monumental span of the wall, the spectrum of palettes and mixed emotions beckon viewers to identify with their own mood swings and connect with a face in the crowd.
HYxOffTheWall, on exhibit at The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards from March 2019 to January 2020, features large-scale tableaus, interactive displays and murals from 13 artists. The exhibit was curated and produced by CultureCorps.

Rob Pruitt's 2010 Art Awards celebrated select individuals, exhibitions, and projects that have made a significant impact on the field of contemporary art during the past year. Pruitt, whose conceptual practice is rooted in a Pop sensibility and a playful critique of art-world structures, conceived the event as a performance-based artwork that followed the format of a Hollywood awards ceremony. 15 awards in contemporary art were presented, including Lifetime Achievement for Jonas Mekas and Martha Rosler, and Artist-Educator Achievement to Marilyn Minter.
Proceeds from the Art Awards benefitted the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and White Columns.

"The Andy Monument" by Rod Pruitt
A six-month installation tribute, inspired by the art and life of the late artist Andy Warhol near his old factory.
On view thru October 2nd at Union Square West, 17th and Broadway, New York, NY 10003
Inspired by Andy Warhol’s work and life, Rob Pruitt created The Andy Monument as a tribute depicting the late artist as a ghostly, silver presence – as a potent cultural force as both artist and self-created myth. From 1968 to 1984 Union Square was the location of Andy Warhol’s Factory where he and his collaborators reinvented the conventional artist’s studio and made history.
