Looking at it now I'd like to try an amber or wheat colored gel on the snooted one to color-balance with the reflection off of me.

I did it! 365 days of self portraits every day. I didn't miss a day. I was planning on trying to do something really cool and artistic today. I had several ideas...but alas I ended up working over 14 hours today. Oh well. Such is life. You can't plan the best things. And in fact, I think this shot is quite fitting...
It has been quite a year...I've met a lot of great people, gone a lot of cool places and seen a lot of cool things.
After focusing so intensely on myself for a year I have come to the conclusion that I need to focus more on the things outside myself. There is a lot happening in the world right now, a lot of it pretty awful. I'm not sure how yet, but somehow I want to contribute actively to the good of my fellow man.
This doesn't mean I'll never shoot selfies again. I'm sure my face will still be a frequent sight on my stream. It just means that my focus needs to turn to producing some positive energy.
I've learned a lot through this project. I've learned how to shoot with several lenses. My D80 has over 50,000 shutter actuations. My D40x over 10 thousand. I've played with light. I've played with lightroom. I've laughed at myself. I hope you have too.
I'm sure if I hadn't worked a 14 hour day today and wasn't anticipating a 16 hour day tomorrow I'd have something more pithy to say...
Peace.
Trevin and I jumping at the Garage Shoot.
Strobe on stand to right and left of camera, 3 feet high pointing in.
I'll have to see if Trevin remembers the strobe settings for this shot (It was his setup).

I spent 7/11 and 7/12 running the live broadcast of heart catheterization procedures to this big conference my boss runs. Part of the conference entailed a hands on "Bioskills" lab where they had pig hearts, but also human brains and other cadaver bits. It was gross, but really fascinating at the same time.
These hearts were used to demonstrate different devices that close holes in the heart (ASD and PFO).
