The city of Porto as seen from the river Douro.

Well perhaps not quite! This was taken during a boat ride on the Edward River, Moulamein, NSW on Christmas Day, 2009. My little Canon camera at the time was a much more modest device too with just 7.1 megapixels!

A couple contemplates a sunset on Como Lake, in Saint Paul.

Three geese pause their perambulation to appreciate the dying of the light as the clouds colors change from xanthous, to fulvous, to Cimmerian, on the skies above Lake Josephine, in Saint Paul.

The fall season is in full swing and the crepuscules are less showy, with more Cimmerian colors, nevertheless beautiful

Captured in Greenwich, London, this image frames a stunning 18th-century masterpiece of neoclassical design and architectural ensemble. The right rises the tower dome of the Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul. On the left, the elegant tower dome of the Painted Hall complements the scene. Beyond, the Thames River meanders towards the iconic Canary Wharf skyline.

The present packhorse bridge was built in 1767 after an earlier structure was swept away in a great flood. On August 4, 1767, a violent thunderstorm broke out over Pock Stones Moor, where the Washburn rises near Stump Cross Caverns, and it unleashed a torrent of water that caused devastation the length of the Washburn valley, drowning scores of cows, sheep and other livestock and carrying away the bridges at Dob Park and Lindley.

The skies above the Twin Cities were ablaze with vibrant colors as the sun dipped below the limb of the world, on this Thursday’s sunset.

On my first day in Lisbon, I walked to Belém to visit the Monument of Discoveries, an iconic tribute to Portugal’s Age of Exploration. Built in 1960 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Prince Henry the Navigator’s death, the monument honors the explorers, navigators, and visionaries who expanded Portugal's horizons during the 15th and 16th centuries. Its striking design, shaped like a ship’s prow, is adorned with statues of historical figures, all looking forward toward the unknown.

Žofín – An Island of Culture in the Heart of the City

Located on Slovanský Island and embraced by the calm flow of the Vltava River, Žofín Palace is one of Prague’s architectural gems. Built in 1837 in neo-Renaissance style, it was named after Archduchess Sophie, mother of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Since the 19th century, Žofín has been a center of cultural life – legendary composers such as Bedřich Smetana and Antonín Dvořák performed here, and the palace continues to host prestigious balls, concerts, and conferences.

In the foreground, the quiet river reflects the surroundings, with paddle boats resting before the summer season. Behind the palace, the elegant facades of Masaryk Embankment glow warmly in the light. This view captures not only the beauty of a historic island, but the very soul of Prague’s cultural heartbeat.
