What a day to remember... Storm Chasing close to home and when I say that this day was incredible, it was simply surreal. SPC had us a moderate risk for us that day, and I wasn't going to be disappointed.

Tornado Watch was just issued for all of South Central Nebraska... Storms were already strong but had not developed into their severe stages until they entered into Phelps County. I was packed up and ready to catch some photographic gems for that day.

Camera in hand when the Tornado Warnings went into effect. I was already on the road trying to catch the first few severe cells. Timed it out perfectly, and got into position south of Overton Nebraska to get under and behind this first cell that produced the first 2 Tornadoes of that day.

I could have followed the this particular cell due north on Hwy 183. I should have, as it produced another stronger tornado EF1 or EF2 just to the north of Amherst Nebraska. But I deiced to get to the east, due to the storms slow movement I was hoping to catch up to the storm cell again before it had crossed Hwy 40, but from a safe distance. I was wrong about the storms movement, it had changed direction and moved almost directly due north, northeast.

I proceeded north on Hwy 10B or Odessa Road north. Only a few miles from the Elm Creek I-80 Interchange. There was plenty of rotation in these clouds but I had to be cautious, not wanting to get in its path again.

I proceeded north....

This is a name I bombed heaps in the 80s but have never pieced until today. This was fun. Big love to my crews RFK, FAL, DIA, MG and SSB. Sorry about the shitty photo.

Over the past couple days I've spent some time in beautiful Kelowna to hang out with friends Jed and Lexy and do some creative shooting. Here's one of our collective efforts, and it might be an all-time fave.

This image took some risk to get to; we had to find our way down a really steep canyon (think ropes and ladders to get down it was so steep), but definitely ended in reward: it was one of the most incredible locations I've had the opportunity to photograph in, and conditions couldn't have been better. A rare, cloudy overcast Kelowna sky to help out the long exposures (this is a half-second effort), and just as we finished up and started out journey up and out of the canyon, the lightening and rain arrived.

A big thanks to Jed and Lexy for going the extra mile to make this shoot happen.

Black and white redux

At the risk of boring you all with my rainbow photos .... I thought I would show you this quite unusual sight.

I almost didn’t see it. Steve and I were walking away from Oxwich beach, when for some reason I looked back and there, on the far side was this ‘sort of the end of a rainbow’.

It hung around for what seemed ages, not moving, which was strange because rainbows usually move (or at least appear to) with the light. It was as if it wanted us to enjoy the display and experience its wonderful aura for a little while longer. I couldn’t tear my eyes away, I do not think I have ever seen a rainbow quite like this before. This was the full extent of it.

Eventually it faded away .... I felt quite sad to see it gradually disappearing from sight.

Taking the leap

Setting fire to building and risking life every day people risk there life to put out fires it may be a empty building but don't forget life's can be empty if they lose a loved one.. This photo is for people that risk there life to keep others safe ty...

With the risk of becoming boring by uploading the same kind of pics all the time, here's another fisheye vertigo one. I really could not just leave it on my desktop ;-)) This one is taken only a few minutes later than the previous one......I like the more dark sky, the additional lights on the buildings and the reflections...... I hope you like it too!

4 skyscrapers out of the famous Hong Kong skyline in a different perspective. I put my fisheye lens on and put the camera flat on it's back on a beanbag. I took a whole series while turning the camera 360 degrees. The results were really cool ......

Donnez Votre avis ! :)

This required me risking my life, which is silly! It's just a photo, man!

But gotta have a bit of thrill in our lives, that's what I say. Stand up on the railing of a dam! Run around in traffic! Lie down in the middle of the street! Have someone punch you!

Interestingly, though the shot itself is quiet, my blood was beating out of my chest, whole time I was trying to get this shot.

This is a part of a documentation. During this kind of welding and iron cutting work , workers need protection by using a shield or glass. But most of the workers don't use protection and it may cause damage eyes. I visited several workshops and found most of the workers are careless. I talked with them and aware them about the risk.

I am never ceased to be amazed how people of all age groups underestimate the power of Lake Michigan.

Note: In order to reach that point on the lighthouse walkway they had to walk past the "Danger! Walkway Closed" sign that is placed at the beginning of the walkway when conditions are dangerous.
