The Canyon Wren lives in a crack. Not metaphorically. I mean an actual geological fissure, which—if you're a Canyon Wren—is the bird equivalent of a fixer-upper with excellent acoustics.
I found this one perched in profile, tail up like a radio antenna, framed by sunlit stone and pure black shadow. It looked like he’d hired a lighting crew. He hadn’t. He’s just naturally dramatic.
You don’t usually see them before you hear them, mostly because they're the color of old terra cotta and have the body mass of a granola bar. But their voice? Pure liquid poetry. A musical waterfall cascading down the cliffs, echoing across the canyon like a ringtone from heaven.
Assuming, of course, you're not hiking with someone who talks nonstop about their cousin’s colonoscopy. Or worse, wearing headphones. Because in that case, the only thing you’ll hear is Spotify yelling about car insurance.
But if the canyon is quiet, and your ears are working, and the birding gods are feeling generous, you just might spot him: pale throat, tiny profile, wedged into a rock like a soprano in a shoe box. He won’t move much. He won’t dazzle you with color. He’ll just stand there like the stone belongs to him and start to sing like the canyon is his concert hall.
Which, honestly, it probably is.
He sings in a crevice, not much of a den,
But it echoes quite nicely for one little wren.
I heard it and my body immediately changed.
It was the kind of sound you could not stop hearing all day.
The kind of sound that lingers like a grateful earworm.
The first melody your mother sang to you as a child.
It sounded like mourning doves first learning to laugh.
It felt like a walk through a soft mossy forest.
Taking a bath in winter as the snow softly falls outside.
The first time we kissed.
A revelation.
A staircase gaining sentience.
Ripples on water after a fifth stone skipped.
The beginning of your favorite novel.
The part of the daily film that is your life you’d like to
Rewind and play all over again.
The hope of a new day and world.
Oh, but it was just your new ringtone.

I had a wonderful night at an explosive British Sea Power gig , full of wild energy and haunting songs . We'd been together to see them many times so it was so emotional seeing them without Sue. In a patch of city trees wedged between parking lots and power lines, a mockingbird practiced his craft. Not on songs of meadowlarks or warblers—he had those already. But on stranger things, it's car alarms, ringtones, and microwave beeps. even the faint two-note squeal of the subway brakes.
The pigeons shook their heads.
“Ridiculous,” they cooed.
The sparrows rolled their eyes.
“You’re embarrassing the species.”
Even the crows cackled.
“Those aren’t songs, they’re malfunctions!”
But the mockingbird didn’t stop.
Night after night, he performed a medley of the city’s oddest sounds, a one-bird orchestra of confusion and clang.
One evening, a shadow slipped through the streetlights,
a feral cat, slow and silent, creeping toward the trees.
The sparrows froze.
The pigeons panicked.
But before the cat could pounce, the mockingbird cut loose:
REE-REE-REE-REE!
(The perfect car alarm.)
BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP!
(The exact panic tone of a delivery van.)
MEEEEEP!
(The shriek of subway brakes.)
The cat spun in circles, ears twitching, tail puffed, and bolted back into the dark.
The sparrows stared.
The pigeons gawked.
Even the crows muttered, “Well, I’ll be…”
The mockingbird puffed his chest, cocked his head, and began to mimic a laughter ringtone, just to rub it in.

Porcupine or pineapple is a favourite very brief song by Brakes, and is a ringtone that can be embarrassing!! These wonderful rocks at Marloes in Pembrokeshire are so wonderful, I've got to go back again on a quieter day, perhaps when a big sea is running!!! It's such a fantastic beach for the diversity of cliffs and rocks!! Probably Porcupine!!

But in truth, our desperate attempts to pretend the tide won't go out for us (you know the feeling that we are the exception to the rule), are eventually revealed for the self-denial they really are. The fact is we are all going to die, and some of us sooner than others.
But that's okay, life is not about us! Our dearest loved ones die and the world goes on. And so it will be when our time comes. The important thing is that we actually got to experience those eternal moments when we stopped and listened to the ocean, or gathered exotic shells on a beach of golden sand. For me the joy of life is being able to say I shared a planet with billions of fellow human beings, who despite the vastness of this universe, might well be the only complex form of life there is.
Zen philosophers know that facing the facts of life can be a lifechanging experience when we slow down enough to contemplate what is really before us. So we need to stop and look carefully, and take in the moments that bear true eternity. William Blake is right.

He usually performs solo and appropriately uses just one name. He wore Raptor's T-shirt (Toronto basketball team), but he seem to have enough fans even without this gesture. From San Diego (1992), he studied jazz at UCLA (Kenny Burrell) and played and recorded mostly solo and lately with several hip-hop groups. Interesting Fact: Samsung released their Galaxy ringtone, 'Over the Horizon', which was produced by Kiefer.
Kiefer (his last name is Shackelford) and in Montreal actually played with CARRTOONS (also uses just one name) - Bass and Luke Sangerman – Drums. It seemed that they really had fun playing together.

There’s nothing like the laughter of a baby, unless its 5am and you’re walking home alone, down a dark track and next to an unlit road. You only have a glow from the morning cloudy sunrise overhead to light your way. The baby crying, you hear it again, only louder this time, much loader in fact and it sounds closer now. Your heart starts to match your pace as you start to run. I’m 50 metres from home. My door key is in hand, I reach the door, but the door suddenly opens, it’s my mom and she looks really angry! The interior at the top of the cathedral tower in Utrecht.
At the right side bottom clockwork mechanism able to play any melody converted in to the bell sound kind of public ringtone of Utrecht.

I had not heard of Raymond or his version of this song until just a few minutes ago. I was always used to Joan Baez's more heavily orchestrated rendition. I think Raymond's version has more gusto.

Hampi was the capital of Vijayanagara Empire, a powerful kingdom in the south of India, ruling over 3 centuries. The city, declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site, still being excavated, become rich through trade and renowned for its art, architecture and vibrant culture. For miles, I couldnt see any sign of modern civility, sans the occasional ringtones and selfie poses. I visited them at dawn for 4 days, and couldnt get enough of it.
Brace, Ill be posting from this region for a while now :)
This picture shows Achyutaraya Temple at Hampi, once a vibrant center of worship and processions, it now rests in contemplative ruin. The close-up carvings on its pillars reveal astonishing craftsmanship, where stone was shaped with patience, precision, and devotion.

so, i was sitting on my couch with my husband and watching "the alternative" on vh1 classic (kick ass, by the way!!!!!!11111) when echo and the bunnymen's "lips like sugar" video came on. inspiration hit. i haven't done a lips shot. well, and i just love that song. love enough that it's my ringtone half the time. yeah. i'm a dork.
p.s. it's brown sugar, by the by. i see now it just looks like i need chap stick. ahh, well.

Well kids, as a guy who grew up in Saint Louis watching a team that played in the American Association from 1882-1891 and then the National League when Major League Baseball began in 1892 I've witnessed and walked among baseball history all my life. Outside of Busch Stadium are statues of Stan "The Man" Musial, Enos Slaughter, Dizzy Dean, Rogers Hornsby, Red Schoendienst, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson and Ozzie Smith; former St. Louis Browns player and Hall of Fame inductee George Sisler; former Negro league St. Louis Stars player and Hall of Fame inductee Cool Papa Bell; and former Cardinals radio broadcaster and Hall of Fame honoree Jack Buck. On Thursday Arpil 13th 2017 the Seattle Mariners unveiled their first statue of their first Hall of Fame player, Ken Griffey Jr. (HOF Broadcaster Dave Niehaus has a nice one inside) The word was that in 1995 that baseball would leave Seattle unless we built them a new stadium and it wasn't looking good until the Mariners led by the kid with the sweet swing got hot and reminded everyone how great this game is. Safeco Field is a marvel and a joy to attend and baseball thrives still in the Pacific Northwest.

LOL yeah.i drew this cuz i remember what happened in my holidays...when its holiday time.i kinda wake up late every morning.my mom always scold me for that(-__-;)
so i decided to switch my alarm at my cellphone and used "tsukurimashou" ringtone(its a song from azumanga daioh anime)
i get up from bed but fall and hit my face to the bed.getting sleepy again and sleep again bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuut me tsukurimashou alarm went on and wawzers.....i cant shut my phone so i have to wake up and turned it off(TT^TT)...i turned the volume realy loud so at the mornings.....well.....i got snapped from me dreams REAL quick...(=w=)b
