In a scene that looks far from 2017, Pan Am's Maine Central heritage unit, ST GP9 #52, looks right at home as it leads train MAWA past the retired goal post signal at the former CPF-92 in Pittsfield, ME. Although the railroad's three operating GP9's are usually reserved for yard duties around Waterville, the 52 was pressed into road service the previous day on WAMA, allowing for the very rare opportunity to shoot it leading the return from Mattawamkeag the following day in territory not usually seen by the unit. Forty miles of CTC between Hermon and Benton, ME, were retired from service this past winter, and already nearly all the signal heads have been removed from the masts, luckily with exception of the photogenic home signal at this location.
A fresh and new looking SD70ACC conversion is on the point of Detroit to Bellevue train NS 184 as it rolls through Vickers during lunchtime. Northwood, OH 12/23/19

Plenty of heads up and getting off work on time allowed me to make a mad dash to STL to capture the Z-DUNP-24 with UP 1982 and 1943. Missing the train at MacArthur by a mere 15 minutes, I raced west to Kirkwood. Not exactly what I had hoped for, but thankful to have had the chance to shoot my favorite of UP's heritage fleet leading on home rails.
CSX L405 notches up out of track 5 in Memphis Junction Yard with CSX 2625 in the lead, sporting an unsanctioned L&N-painted nose, which fits in quite well here on the former L&N main stem.
popping up right in time for the first sunny weekend of spring.

Of course all of you will know of and maybe recognise the Magna Carta of 1215 sealed by King John - however , the original document John reneged on and he had the Pope annul the charter he sealed with the Barons . After John died and a young King Henry III took the throne but was too young to rule at that time so William Marshal (a family ancestor of ours ) became Regent until his death in 1219 , and in this time he took the Magna Carta and reissued it in Henry III's name having made some alterations and it took it's place in history as the cornerstone of many of our laws and rights of the people .
