I posted the Pinky and then realized I had snagged the wrong flower from the desktop, so got this one posted it and thought the date was wrong on it to then I realized that the date of theme posted was 3/18 so 3/23 was okay....wow! what a mix up in my head tonight, DATE good, TAGS good, in the group I think!
Rhododendron is a genus of 1,024 species of woody plants in the heath family (Ericaceae), either evergreen or deciduous, and found mainly in Asia, although it is also widespread throughout the lowland and montane forests of the Pacific Northwest, California, and the highlands of the Appalachian Mountains of North America. Most species have brightly coloured flowers which bloom from late winter through to early summer. Azaleas are subgenera of Rhododendron. 10620
Pink Rhododendron flower buds are ready to blossom. the textured leaves are wide open in the spring light.

Die Rhododendren (Singular: das Rhododendron, umgangssprachlich auch der Rhododendron) sind eine Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Heidekrautgewächse (Ericaceae). Der Name Rhododendron, griechisch für „Rosenbaum“, wurde bis ins 17. Jahrhundert für den Oleander gebraucht und erst von Carl von Linné auf die Alpenrose übertragen. Es ist mit etwa 1000 Arten eine große Gattung.

Yesterday's adventure took us through the Chattahoochee National Forest at the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area. This trail is a very nice one, and I have never seen a trail so aptly name as this one. The blooming Rhododendron's were absolutely at peak & everywhere. As you can see in the background here it made for a terrific setting. :) -H3
Rhododendron ponticum, called common rhododendron or pontic rhododendron, is a species of flowering plant in the Rhododendron genus of the heath family Ericaceae. It is native to the Iberian Peninsula in southwest Europe and the Caucasus region in northern West Asia.
