I have windows for the sides as well and am just waiting for some hinges I bought on ebay to arrive to set them up. However, I may leave them off for the summer to avoid cooking my plants in a solar oven.
I still need to add some trim, particularly on the bottom window frame on the right. I also need some hardware to keep the windows from swinging when left open and some handles.
The Space Shuttle orbiter is the spaceplane component of the Space Shuttle, a partially reusable orbital spacecraft system that was part of the discontinued Space Shuttle program. Operated from 1977 to 2011 by NASA, the U.S. space agency, this vehicle could carry astronauts and payloads into low Earth orbit, perform in-space operations, then re-enter the atmosphere and land as a glider, returning its crew and any on-board payload to the Earth.
Six orbiters were built for flight: Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour. All were built in Palmdale, California, by the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Rockwell International company. The first orbiter, Enterprise, made its maiden flight in 1977. An unpowered glider, it was carried by a modified Boeing 747 airliner called the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft and released for a series of atmospheric test flights and landings. Enterprise was partially disassembled and retired after completion of critical testing. The remaining orbiters were fully operational spacecraft, and were launched vertically as part of the Space Shuttle stack.
Columbia was the first space-worthy orbiter; it made its inaugural flight in 1981. Challenger, Discovery, and Atlantis followed in 1983, 1984, and 1985 respectively. In 1986, Challenger was destroyed in an accident shortly after its 10th launch. Endeavour was built as Challenger's successor, and was first launched in 1992. In 2003, Columbia was destroyed during re-entry, leaving just three remaining orbiters. Discovery completed its final flight on March 9, 2011, and Endeavour completed its final flight on June 1, 2011. Atlantis completed the final Shuttle flight, STS-135, on July 21, 2011.
In addition to their crews and payloads, the reusable orbiter carried most of the Space Shuttle System's liquid-propellant rocket system, but both the liquid hydrogen fuel and the liquid oxygen oxidizer for its three main rocket engines were fed from an external cryogenic propellant tank. Additionally, two reusable solid rocket boosters (SRBs) provided additional thrust for approximately the first two minutes of launch. The orbiters themselves did carry hypergolic propellants for their Reaction Control System (RCS) thrusters and Orbital Maneuvering System (OMS) engines.

A PVC pipe bike trailer I built in an afternoon. I scavenged the tire and some metal from an old kids bike. The total cost was around $40, but in hindsight I could have done it for less.
I found an old-fashioned schoolyard merry-go-round in unincorporated Scipio, Kansas, to be a fascinating photo study, attracted by the colors, textures, and angles.

Here's a view of my 127 film slitter with the lid open. It's impossible to see, but in the lower left there is the corner of a razor blade sticking up. (see my next photo for details)
The wire form on the right is used to keep the coiled roll of 120 film under control while pulling the film through the box.
The felt is used to keep from scratching the film, and also to hopefully remove dust as it goes.
It will be important to keep this felt clean, as a spec of sand or foreign object could put a scratch on the entire length of film. Not good.
We decided early on in the build that we would try to reuse or recycle as much as we could. With many of our friends here developing properties we decided to put out an appeal for surplus materials that would otherwise have been discarded. As a result we've managed to collect over half the tiles we need. A big thank you to Dave Golding and Dave & Fiona. Tesselating them together will be a challenge but it will be very satisfying if we succeed.

Our concept revolved around the notions of recycling a building, reusing natural and manmade resources and reclaiming the ancient ideal that buildings can and should be sacred places, especially the home.
The project began as a modest remodel, but turned into a full master-planning for the site; including complete interior and exterior recycle, an addition to an existing 1970’s home, as well as re-organization of the garden. As the original house was poorly sited, a large motivation of the design was to reconnect the house with its site by utilizing the steep topography to capture the expansive views.
One goal was to integrate the architecture with the native garden and creek at the bottom of the property. To fully enjoy the reclaimed views, the house is wrapped by exterior decks with glass railings. The inspiration is kiyomizu temple in kyoto, japan, (founded 7th century a.d.) which sits above the landscape and provides panoramic views of the city.
In the spirit of reclaiming value, recycled materials are employed at every possible opportunity. The front facade of the house is comprised of recycled glass blocks, which were provided by the owner as a condition of the commission. the originally monolithic nature of the house is further dematerialized through the use of slats installed as rain screens. This wall assembly seems to dissolve the facade of the house, particularly at corner conditions.
The project also makes extensive use of harvested rainwater stored in pools and reservoirs to re-connect the house with its site. The water system lends a sense of drama to the intervention. a series of cascading ponds serve as part of the rain water collection system on the utilitarian level. On the aesthetic level it provides a peaceful transition between the landscape and the architecture.
The selection of plants in the garden are primarily plants native to the central texas region. This minimizes the usage of water, and follows principles of xeriscaping. The garden is planned around existing mature trees and shrubs with various ground covers and perennials. The intention was to preserve the characteristic of the site as much as possible and retain the essence of a landscape native to the edwards plateau in the hill country.

A morning of scavenging resulted in: another 50 palm leaves for our privacy barrier; 4 old enamelled steel baths to be buried and used as reed planters in our grey water recycling system. The plastic crates will be used in the base of the compost toilet chambers to assist drainage.
Upgraded boxes like this, can be reused many times because of the protective hardware. The handles and recessed linklocks help the end user handle the shipment with ease.
Want to keep your little one (not your baby !) busy for 15mn or so ? Give him/her a bit of bubble wrapping !! My two boys kept themselves busy like that yesterday & today too ! LOL (Jan. 16th 2009)

Logo on the plastic bag in which our carryout order from Culver's Restaurant (in Nies, Michigan) was delivered. It needs to be stressed that "resuable" and "recyclable" are far from the same thing. The bag was manufactured by Command Packaging (of Vernon, California), a company that touts their "environmentally friendly" products.
