A beeping sound alerts Flit to an unauthorized flying object in the area, she scans the skies and smiles as a tiny Cut-Throat Finch lands on her finger. There is hope she thinks as her motors chirp excitedly to gain information from the small feathered friend.
The bird sings of growth and rebirth from the ashes of sickness, it tweets about heavy boots and growling in the Junkyard, the next whistle is a sound she has never heard before... she twitches softly as her hard drive whirls looking for translations.

The Slums were too quiet for her liking this evening, there are no readings on the walkie talkies, no loud bass coming from Carnage City, just the sounds of the radio emitting a lonely static.
Surely she wasn't prepaired to run into the 5-0, those on the force that have survived must have come looking for the cruiser.... she wonders if the GPS is still functional or if the contents of those bathroom mirrors are starting to make her feel a little paranoid.

The hold music sounds like static fuzz, which is what it is. She bobs her head to the memories of civilization; her social drives are starting to malfunction due to non use. She chitters away to herself and waits to be the winner of some kind of contest she's fantasizing about.
If only this theme-park had an epic gate... ((turns to smirk at the camera)) One with a glorious clown head of
doom with an eager mouth lined with fangs for tourists to walk through. The daydream pleases her and she grins hopeful into the sunset.
She takes a selfie with an old polariod camera and shakes it for some reason like the humans used to. It slowly comes
into focus. She then scratches some crued letters and a smiley face onto the white rectangle at the bottom, curles it up and
puts it into a beer bottle to send off into the unknown.

In the beginning there was darkness as if the sky tore open revealing the infinity of space. The sun flickered for a moment sending a cold chill through the bones of all living things. Something wasn't right. Felicia looked up into the face of what was to become the most horrifying moment humanity would witness... the thought of a dying sun.
People began to panic instantaneously; the streets filling with hysteria, even the most professional of society has turned to sheer frenzy crashing into things and each other.
Felicia thinks quickly scanning all possible exit routes, she's gotta get out of here - and fast. She heads down back-alley toward her basement apartment to grab her bug-out bag, she's planned for a crisis - although she always thought it would be zombies or something along the lines of World War 3 fighting over natural resources like water or something - she never dreamed it would be this serious... something no one had any idea of how to fix or stop.
She turns the corner to see two men smashing the window of the electronic store where she works, "what good is that big screen tv going to be to you when the lights go out" she mutters to herself and turns to duck down the next alley almost home.

Finished the alterations on the vintage dress I found at Public Butter on Good Friday and am pretty happy with the results! :)

At the time, they seemed so mod and hip – a role model to live up to when I got bigger! (of course, by the time I reached their age, this look was totally passé since Disco was the big thing).
The building to the south mushrooms in a discharge of billowing smoke and fire. Flit takes a long pull from her Torpedo Cigar and scans the grounds, "where is that girl" she exhales into a smoke ring.
Raising her weapon she chuckles realizing she grabbed her NES Zapper by mistake.

This view looks east toward the Morris Canal as well as the new World Trade Center and the Manhattan skyline in the distance. Liberty State Park is on the right. It's a REAL development already in the works called "The Cove".
Below is how the area appeared in 2012, but hasn't changed since then. The site is mostly vacant brownfields with a tidal ditch at the end of the Morris Canal to the left of the view that receives sewer outfall.

It used to be a hotel with storefronts on the bottom, but I guess it's apartments now. Though storefronts still remain.
It was built 1905-1906 by Alger & Stewart. It's in a National Register Historic District.
EDIT: Oh horror, this is gone forever as of 05/2009. :( So much for getting a better pic of it.

Let's go with greenish, OK, soda that exists now only outside the U.S. This menu board is in near-mint condition, with the board itself quite perfect. If you can't afford that blackboard wall: think small!
