POPAI is dedicated to promoting Marketing at Retail as a powerful advertising medium being rapidly integrated into the strategic marketing mix, as retail programs deliver a critical combination of brand messaging and information at the critical moment of the consumer purchase decision.
This store opened in 2003 as San Luis Obispo County's third Food 4 Less store. A fourth one has since opened in Arroyo Grande. Unlike Food 4 Less stores south of Santa Barbara and Kern Counties which are owned by Kroger; PAQ Inc has the rights to the Food 4 Less name north of Southern California, meaning this store is not owned by Kroger but PAQ Inc. PAQ designs their Food 4 Less stores differently than Kroger, with a design where you must walk through most of the store departments in order to access the checkout and the exits.
This store recently underwent a remodel over this past summer, including repainting, new signage and aisle markers, and self-checkout, now having a more similar design to Kroger Food 4 Less stores. Self-checkout for this store is huge as checkout previously at this store was notorious for having long lines. I unfortunately do not have any photos of this store before the remodel, but I can say that it is a step up from how it was before.
