Who is standing in my way? Why can't I see the big picture? It is usually me who is standing in my own way, and it is my particular symmetry that is obscuring the view. Leica M8, Leitz Elmar (coll.) 50/2.8.

That very morning I scratched my ND filter 82mm (10-20 lens dimension). So I was forced to use my 18-35. This is what I managed to shoot: it was very difficult to find a good spot because of the forbidden areas (only some Chinese during the wedding shooting went in these forbidden zones ... barbares ...) and because of the high number of people. The long exposure helped me to delete the walking tourists at least. It has been difficult but I did my best =]

The kiang (Equus kiang) is the largest of the wild asses. It is native to the Tibetan Plateau, where it inhabits montane and alpine grasslands. Its current range is restricted to Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, plains of the Tibetan plateau and northern Nepal along the Tibetan border. Other common names for this species include Tibetan wild ass, khyang, and gorkhar.

The kiang is the largest of the wild asses, with an average shoulder height of 13.3 hands (55 inches, 140 cm). They range from 132 to 142 centimetres (52 to 56 in) high at the shoulder, with a body 182 to 214 centimetres (72 to 84 in) long, and a 32 to 45 centimetres (13 to 18 in) tail. Kiangs have only slight sexual dimorphism, with the males weighing from 350 to 400 kilograms (770 to 880 lb), while females weigh 250 to 300 kilograms (550 to 660 lb). They have a large head, with a blunt muzzle and a convex nose. The mane is upright and relatively short. The coat is a rich chestnut colour, darker brown in winter and a sleek reddish brown in late summer, when the animal molts its woolly fur. The summer coat is 1.5 centimeters long and the winter coat is double that length. The legs, underparts, end of the muzzle, and the inside of the ears are all white. A broad, dark chocolate-coloured dorsal stripe extends from the mane to the end of the tail, which ends in a tuft of blackish brown hairs.

The southern crested caracara (Caracara plancus), also known as the southern caracara or carancho, is a bird of prey in the family Falconidae. As presently defined, the southern crested caracara is restricted to central and southern South America. It formerly included the northern crested caracara (C. cheriway) of the southern United States, Mexico, Central America and northern South America, and the extinct Guadalupe caracara (C. lutosa) as subspecies. As its relatives, it was formerly placed in the genus Polyborus.

Did a bird of prey photoshoot today....It proved quite a challenge.

Although I grew up in a working class area of a big city I find myself drawn to photograph the the coast and the junction of land, sea and sky. Mankind has been part of this landscape for thousands of years and we are now as much a part of it as the waves.

Unusually I was at the coast without my camera so this is taken on my Motorola phone. I fined the old tractors that are used to pull the boats back and forth to the sea the fascinating when I first saw them they seemed so out of place but they are now just part of the furniture.

The photo is taken on the promenade at Cromer, Norfolk, England, looking east along the North Norfolk coast. If you walk a little further along you there is a Banksy art work on a concrete groyne.

The Large Heath is restricted to wet boggy habitats in northern Britain, Ireland, and a few isolated sites in Wales and central England.

The adults always sit with their wings closed and can fly even in quite dull weather provided the air temperature is higher than 14B:C. The size of the underwing spots varies across its range; a heavily spotted form (davus) is found in lowland England, a virtually spotless race (scotica) in northern Scotland, and a range of intermediate races elsewhere (referred to as polydama).

The butterfly has declined seriously in England and Wales but is still widespread in parts of Ireland and Scotland. This wee chap was found at Duffus Castle in Moray.

Im Berliner Dom gibt es dieses Treppenhaus, über das man auf die Kuppel gelangt. Dort gibt es auch eine Aussichtsplattform, von der die Sicht jedoch durch die vielen Türme des Doms eingeschränkt wird.

Inside Berlin cathedral is this staircase for the way up to the dome. There is also a viewing platform, but the view is restricted because of the many towers from the building.

Usually restricted to more northern climates and with shorter flight time than other grass skippers.

The Shoeburyness Boom (also known as the Sheerness Boom, Thames Boom or Thames Estuary Boom) refers to two successive defensive barriers across most of the Thames Estuary in the mid-20th century. As to the part perpendicular to the north shore most of the latter incarnation remains, and its nearest concrete mooring/patrol point 600 metres south. A 2 km (2,200 yard) stretch, this is designated a scheduled monument and marks the western edge of MoD Shoeburyness firing range, a restricted area. The rest was taken up in the 1960s.

P1090862 - Indian Rhinoceros

# 192

Mother with her Subadult - At - Kaziranga National Park - Assam - Eastern Himalayas.

Also Cattle Egrets n others friends are seen ...

WONDERFUL FACTS: Indian Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis), also called the Greater One-horned Rhinoceros and Great Indian Rhinoceros - is native to the Indian subcontinent. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List.

as populations are fragmented and restricted to less than 20,000 sq km (7,700 sq mi). Moreover, the extent and quality of the rhino's most important habitat, alluvial grassland and riverine forest, is considered to be in decline due to human and livestock encroachment.

Indian rhinoceros once ranged throughout the entire stretch of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, but excessive hunting and agricultural development reduced their range drastically to 11 sites in northern India and southern Nepal. (wikipedia)
