The Biltmore opened in 1923 as a 1,000-room hotel that was “first class in every respect.” This was the first hotel commission for the newly founded architecture firm of Schultze and Weaver, who later went on to design such grand hotels as the Park Lane and Waldorf Astoria in New York, and the Miami Biltmore in Coral Gables, Florida. In addition to the lobby and grand hallway designed to resemble a Spanish palace, the hotel has several banquet rooms, each decorated in sumptuous Beaux-Arts splendor.

Why do we perceive this as respect? I don't mean this sarcastically - this is what respect looks like.

On 22 June 2013, during the Gnaoua Festival, HAF and partners organised a community cleaning and planting session in Essaouira's Christian cemetery. Around 25 volunteers took part, alongside workers and gardeners. No-one had relatives buried in the cemetery, but all were happy to help maintain this important religious and historical site and make it more welcoming for mourners and visitors.
This plaque celebrates the liberation of Alsace and Lorraine from German rule after WW1 - I would pay it a little more respect than is shown here!

Participation to the final event of the RESPECT+ project. The event is a conference with journalists, public administrators, politicians and roma activists coming from all Europe. During the event a volounteer made a brief speech explaining the aim and the contents of the ALL IN ONE campaign.
During this event, like the previous in the FNSI national office, we promoted romany culture through food catering and music.

Discrimination, harassment, and lack of professional support and respect are key barriers hindering midwives’ ability to provide lifesaving, quality care to women and newborns, according to findings in the first and largest global survey of midwifery personnel led by the World Health Organization, the International Confederation of Midwives, and White Ribbon Alliance, with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development-funded HP+ project.
The new report, "Midwives’ Voices, Midwives Realities: Findings from a global consultation on providing quality midwifery care," reveals more than a third (37 percent) of some 2,400 midwives in 93 countries have experienced harassment at work, with many describing a lack of security and fear of violence. Midwives support women and babies throughout their journey to safety every day. It is essential that we hear midwives’ voices and listen to what they have to say.
On February 27, please join us at the Wilson Center for a discussion of the voices and realities of midwives working to bring quality, respectful care for women, newborns, families, and communities.
