Madrid es la capital de España1 y de la Comunidad de Madrid, comunidad autónoma uniprovincial. También conocida como la Villa y Corte, es la ciudad más grande y poblada del país, alcanzando oficialmente y según el padrón de habitantes a 1 de enero de 2011 los 3.293.601 habitantes en su municipio,2 y la corrección a final de año del ayuntamiento, cifra oficiosa hasta ser aprobada en el congreso a finales de ese año es de 3.294.110,3 mientras que la cifra de población incluida su área metropolitana asciende a 6.543.031 habitantes según AUDES,4 y una área urbana que engloba unos 7,1 millones de habitantes [8] siendo por ello la tercera ciudad más poblada de la Unión Europea —por detrás de Berlín y Londres— y la tercera área metropolitana, por detrás de las de París y Londres.5 6 7 8
Como capital del Estado, Madrid alberga las sedes del gobierno, Cortes Generales, ministerios, instituciones y organismos asociados, así como la residencia oficial de los Reyes de España.9 En el plano económico, Madrid es la cuarta ciudad más rica de Europa, tras Londres, París y Moscú.10 Actualmente, el 50,1% de los ingresos de las 5.000 principales empresas españolas son generados por sociedades con sede social en Madrid, las cuales representan el 31,8% de ellas.11 Es sede del 3er mayor mercado de valores de Europa,12 del 2º de ámbito latinoamericano (Latibex) y de varias de las más grandes corporaciones del mundo.13 14 Es la 8ª ciudad del mundo con mayor presencia de multinacionales, tras Pekín y por delante de Dubái, París y Nueva York.15 16
En el plano internacional, acoge la sede central de la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT), perteneciente a la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), la sede de la Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB), y la sede de la Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (OEI). También alberga las principales instituciones internacionales reguladores y difusoras del idioma español: la Comisión Permanente de la Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española,17 y sedes centrales de la Real Academia Española (RAE), del Instituto Cervantes y de la Fundación del Español Urgente (Fundéu). Madrid organiza ferias como FITUR, Madrid Fusión, ARCO, SIMO TCI, el Salón del Automóvil y la Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week.
Es un influyente centro cultural y cuenta con museos de referencia internacional, entre los que destacan el Museo del Prado, el Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, CaixaForum Madrid y el Thyssen-Bornemisza, que ocupan, respectivamente, el 11º, 15º, 24º y 48º puesto entre los museos más visitados del mundo.18
Es, según la revista británica Monocle, la 10ª ciudad del mundo con mayor calidad de vida
Duminică, 25 octombrie 2015, prefectul județului Cluj, Gheorghe Ioan Vușcan, a participat la ceremonia militară şi religioasă, desfăşurată în fața Monumentului „Glorie Ostaşului Român” din Piaţa Avram Iancu, cu ocazia sărbătoririi Zilei Armatei României.
„Se împlinesc, anul acesta, 71 de ani de la istoricul moment din toamna anului 1944, când Armata Română a eliberat ultimele localități românești de sub ocupație străină, Carei şi Satu-Mare, un reper esențial pentru România, dar și pentru ceea ce au însemnat operațiunile militare derulate în cel de-al doilea Război Mondial. Până la acel moment istoric, drumul eliberării meleagurilor transilvane fusese marcat de epopeea eroică a luptelor crâncene de la Iernut, Oarba de Mureş, Cluj sau Oradea, unde inamicul a opus o puternică rezistenţă. Prin acţiunea lor eroică, militarii români au înlăturat nedreptatea făcută neamului nostru prin Dictatul de la Viena la 30 august 1940, prin care România a fost silită să cedeze aproape jumătate din teritoriul Transilvaniei în favoarea Ungariei horthyste.
25 octombrie este nu numai o zi a recunoştinţei, este și o zi a demnităţii noastre, o zi pe care militarii români au stropit-o cu sânge, au marcat-o cu vitejie, au susţinut-o prin voinţa lor. Ne înclinăm cu recunoştinţă în faţa memoriei celor care s-au jertfit pentru eliberarea ultimei palme de pământ românesc de sub ocupaţie străină şi aducem un sincer omagiu tuturor veteranilor de război pentru care credinţa, responsabilitatea şi onoarea în slujirea idealurilor de libertate şi independenţă au reprezentat crezul suprem”, a transmis prefectul Gheorghe Ioan Vușcan în alocuțiunea rostită cu ocazia Zilei Armatei României.

Building on the ACU's Respect campaign, the residential school brought together 30 student leaders from over 20 Commonwealth countries, to help them develop tools to promote and support respect and understanding in their institutions and beyond.

I shot this today on campus...there was a bible beater "preaching the word" near the union.
Now I AM anti-organized religion, but I can respect those who have a different opinion then me...but this guy.....he is just one of those people who yell at all those around him that they are nothing but whores and sinners who are going straight to hell --you know the same love that Jesus taught.
(*note: just because I am anti-organized religion doesn't mean I am anti-religion)
More info: the guys on bikes were circling the bible guy to take part in the circus. the guy with the sign was having his picture taken by a guy with a camera-phone. i like the look of the bible guy in this shot.
I can't decide how much color to leave in the pic to stress the point of the shot.
I think this one the bible guy is too subtle....but I dunno.

Now in its fifth year, the Ride of Respect 2014 is on Sunday 1 June from 9am to midday (approximately) and will raise vital funds for The Royal British Legion in support of our Armed Forces and their families.

Participation to the final event of the RESPECT+ project. The event is a conference with journalists, public administrators, politicians and roma activists coming from all Europe. During the event a volounteer made a brief speech explaining the aim and the contents of the ALL IN ONE campaign.
During this event, like the previous in the FNSI national office, we promoted romany culture through food catering and music.
