Participation to the final event of the RESPECT+ project. The event is a conference with journalists, public administrators, politicians and roma activists coming from all Europe. During the event a volounteer made a brief speech explaining the aim and the contents of the ALL IN ONE campaign.

During this event, like the previous in the FNSI national office, we promoted romany culture through food catering and music.

(the date set by the camera is wrong. The exact date of the event is May 25, 2011).

[There are 10 photos in this set] This Queen Anne at 208 SW Alabama Avenue, Fort Payne, Alabama dates from circa 1888. The 2-story frame house, built about 1888, displays asymmetry and a Queen Anne-style tower at one corner of the front facade. This tower and the steep pitched hipped roof with cross gables at the front and side define the roof line. Brackets are prominent in the wide overhanging eaves. Ornamental shingling covers much of the second floor (images 7 and 9, the tower and the rear view of the structure). A small porch is in the gable above the entrance porch. Fenestration on the second floor is characterized by small decorative panes. The first level has a wrap-around porch at the front and the side where the tower is dominant; the balusters are turned. Piers of brick with ornamental balusters provide support for the porch roof; the piers are a continuation of the brick foundation of the building. Brick steps lead from the street to the lawn, situated on a rise; from there wide steps of concrete lead to an arched entrance to the porch. Flanking these steps are two horses (they appear to be metal), a visual device that enhances the front facade. A double door with a single transom is highly decorated with ornamental metalwork. I'm wondering is these are not storm doors to the entrance. The final view (#10 in this series) is of a large outbuilding (garage and more) behind the house; it also has a steep pitched hipped roof with cross gables and a small square tower with windows below pediments and a sharp extension above.

According to the National Register nomination form for the Fort Payne Residential Historic District, the house was renovated in the 1980s. It's location on a rise and prevalence of trees made photographing the house a challenge. It is part of the Fort Payne Residential Historic District and added to the National Register of Historic Places May 4, 1988 with identifying number 88000444.

You are the head of a respected but troubled family estate in mid-19th century Victorian England. After several lean decades, family fortunes are looking up! Your goal is to improve your estate so as to be in better standing with the truly influential families in Derbyshire.

Obsession is a game of 16 to 20 turns in which players build a deck of Victorian gentry (British social upper class), renovate their estate by acquiring building tiles from a centralized builders' market, and manipulate an extensive service staff of butlers, housekeepers, underbutlers, maids, valets, and footmen utilizing a novel worker placement mechanic. Successfully hosting prestigious social activities such as Fox Hunts, Music Recitals, Billiards, Political Debates, and Grand Balls increases a player's wealth, reputation, and connections among the elite.

Each turn, players choose a building tile representing a room or outdoor space in and around their 19th century British country house. The tile chosen dictates the event that can be hosted and the guests to be invited. Players must carefully plan, however, to have the proper staff available to service the event and support guests as needed. The reward for success is new investment opportunities, permitting further renovation of the estate (acquisition of more valuable/powerful building tiles), an increase in reputation in the county, an expanding circle of influential acquaintances, and a larger and highly-trained domestic staff.

Throughout the game, a competitive courtship for the hand of the most eligible young gentleman and lady in the county presents specific renovation and reputation objectives. The player who best meets these objectives while accumulating victory points will win the hand of the wealthy love interest and the game.

Headquarters of Respect Political Party, Club Row, Shoreditch.

My earlier prediction about Respect being a spent political force were correct - at the May 2010 General Election the party lost Bethnal Green & Bow to Labour (it was Labour's only gain of the election), George Galloway failed to take Poplar & Limehouse, and Respect only kept one seat on Tower Hamlets Council. A far cry from 2005 when Respect won Bethnal Green & Bow and had their sights on taking the Council in 2006.
