Whitebark pine restoration sign. Crater Lake National Park, Oregon.
Sign reads:
Whitebark pine restoration
400 whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis) seedlings are planted here as part of a restoration project. Rocks and logs create micro-habitats that protect the seedlings by providing shelter, stabilizing soil and holding water. This will help the seedlings surviv the harsh conditions here on the caldera rim. Please Stay on Path.
