poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don't bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. There are 334 large inflated egg-shaped lights floating on the Dragonfly Lake at Gardens by the Bay. When people touch the oval structures perched on the lake's boardwalk, the lights change colours and each egg emits a musical note depending on the colour it's depicting. Like a blast from the past, the echo of an EMD 16-645E3 prime mover once again resonates through the tight confines south of Holston Tunnel as they lug a loaded ballast train up the 0.5% grade out of Kingsport. This used to be a common occurence, as this was almost strictly SD40 country for almost 40 years.
A rare scene of stillness in the Magallanes y la Antartica, Chilena Region of Chile. Patagonia is known for it's majestic splendor but definitely not it's moments of silence and stillness. Even in this silence I felt the chaos radiating from the rising sun and colliding with the earth and misty fluctuating clouds high in the sky. A crooked staff lay prone in the water beckoning me to cast spells, so I decided to use it's shape to embrace the scene. I sort of felt like a sorcerer casting a spell of reflection and stillness this day. It was a quiet moment.

The universe does not know whether the vibration that you're offering is because of something you're observing or something you're remembering or something that you are imagining. It just receives the vibration and answers it with things that match it.” -
Abraham Hicks
The words we choose to use when we communicate with each other, carry vibrations. The word ‘war’ carries a whole different vibration than the word ‘peace’. The words we use are showing how we think and how we feel. The careful selection of words, helps to elevate our consciousness and resonate in higher frequencies. -

We usually hear the expression "Don't ever let them take your dreams away". But what that means anyway? How can anyone take my dreams away from me? And why are my dreams so important for someone to steal them? What's lying behind those words? Well for this one me thinks, we gotta dig a little deeper. Come, join me for a ride then... I dare you!
I have to have dreams in the first place, aren't I? And there has to be an "I", in order to have those dreams. That's key. Our dreams is an extension of us. In essence they are us. Us as in what we wanna be. Who we want be. Where we wanna go. Those are the dreams I'm talking about. Be my guest and replace the word "dreams" with words such as "thoughts", "feelings", "ideas", "emotions", "desires", "passions" anytime. Replace it with any word that resonates with you and pinpoints your inner self. That deep voice in your head and in your heart, that's there when you wake up every morning and motivates you to be who you are, each and every single day. Letting anyone alter those dreams in any way, by any means and to even the smallest extend, is letting him take them away and replace them with his own version. Or plan perhaps...?
But if we let that happen, we won't be ourselves anymore. We'll be a projection of someone else's dreams. Someone else's self. In reality we are letting him take away our identity, we're giving ourselves up. Except for Love, the ultimate betrayal that is. Therefore "I" will not exist anymore. I won't be me anymore. I won't be at all. And without "I", there can't be "We". There will be only copies of someone else. And most probably bad copies, since we won't be authentic any more. Not in a physical level. But in a mental and spiritual level. In that sense we need that "I" to be. Else we would all become the "Rest". Like in the rest of the world. We need to keep our dreams and thoughts and feelings and everything else that makes us unique and original, we need them to build upon them. We need them to be the foundation for our tomorrow's world. We need them as a starting point, as a first step, as a milestone somewhere along our way and as a destination, as the crossing line, at the same time. They can be a beginning or an end. We need them for without them, even Love would cease to exist since it would need that "We", which in turn needs those "I". And if Love would not be, then Hope would not be either. And it goes deeper and deeper. In the end there would be no feelings, no emotions, no driving force, no nothing. We would be empty inside. Empty shells, just look alike of our once mighty self, mere puppets serving someone else's purpose...
That's the real power and the true value of our dreams. They are a force to be reckoned with! What a Man can dream, a Man can do. That's why they are so important. That's why we need them in their original, unique form, coming from inside us. That's why we need to guard them at all costs, until we turn them to reality and therefore they'll have fulfilled their purpose. For in the end, being the gatekeepers of our dreams is being the makers of our own destiny and thus, the guardians of our freedom itself. And to do so, we need to be brave and be strong. We need be daring to dream. We need to be an undaunted soul...

A handsome and familiar gamebird, the Common Pheasant is large and colourful, and has a long tail. Common in farmland and woodland throughout the UK, the males' loud, sharp, croaking call can be heard resonating through the countryside before the bird is actually seen. Pheasants eat seeds, berries, leaves and insects; they roost in trees and can form flocks in winter. During the breeding season, one male may mate with many females, who then raise the chicks alone.
This male was seen in my garden this afternoon - heading for the seed feeders!

Nightswimming at Warehouse 21
She swam in the deep inky black waters too far from shore that night. The slightly cool silkyness on her skin sent a frisson through her body and she gasped. Was that something brushing past her ankle, or merely a muscle twinge from treading water so long.
Night had always been her favorite, the heavy blanket of darkness held her close where she felt safe. And, the shadows held such beauty, and possibility under a billion tiny points of light.
How much longer could she continue before her body surrendered to the waves. It was a challenge to stay out longer each time, to taunt the forces surrounding her, to bend them to her will. She closed her eyes and let her mind wander the universe, visiting others in their thoughts and traversing distant galaxies.
The sound of the waves was soothing, her entire body undulating to the rhythm resonating louder and louder.
When she finally opened her eyes it all came back… bodies dancing in rhythm against hers, everyone moving in waves on the massive dance floor, spotlights piercing the darkness from rigging on the ceiling - this was her favorite place, where she felt home and free at the same time.

Amidst the vast, icy expanse, a formidable sight unfolds as the mama polar bear rises on her hind legs, a towering sentinel of the frozen realm. In this moment, the wild takes on an almost mythical resonance, echoing the primal instincts etched in the tapestry of nature. The towering stature of the bear signals a dual purpose: a testament to her strength and a strategic vantage point to survey the Arctic landscape for potential threats or prey. This act, both majestic and utilitarian, mirrors the complex dance of maternal instincts woven across species. In the human and animal kingdoms alike, mothers stand as guardians, their primal instincts attuned to protect and nurture. The upright stance of the polar bear resonates with the shared essence of motherhood, where strength and vigilance converge, transcending the boundaries of ice and human experience.

As the flowers peak in their bloom, they create a visual harmony that resonates with the promise of new beginnings and the enduring charm of the South.
In this digitally painted watercolor and ink scene (from one of my own pictures of that place), the charming alleys of Sarlat-la-Canéda come to life, showcasing the extraordinary architecture characterized by its warm, yellowish stone. The alleys are bustling with a delightful mix of locals and tourists, creating a lively atmosphere around numerous cafes and restaurants. The scene captures the essence of this picturesque town in the heart of the Dordogne region.
The stone buildings, adorned with intricate details, form a captivating backdrop to the vibrant street life. The warm hues of the stone resonate with the inviting glow of street lamps, creating a harmonious interplay of light and shadow. The alleys wind through the town, revealing hidden corners and quaint storefronts that beckon exploration.
Locals and visitors alike are depicted engaged in leisurely activities, seated at charming outdoor cafes or strolling along the cobblestone streets. The air is filled with the aroma of the local cuisine, enticing passersby with the promise of culinary delights. The renowned local gastronomy takes center stage, with specialties such as the famous liver pastes from duck and goose, as well as the delectable truffles, making Sarlat-la-Canéda a haven for food enthusiasts.

Ajloun Castle (Arabic: قلعة عجلون; transliterated: Qal'at 'Ajloun), also known as (Arabic: قلعة الربض; transliterated: Qa'lat ar-Rabad), is a 12th-century Muslim castle situated in northwestern Jordan. It is placed on a hilltop belonging to the Jabal Ajlun ("Mount Ajlun") district, also known as Jabal 'Auf after a Bedouin tribe which had captured the area in the 12th century. From its high ground the castle was guarding three wadis which descend towards the Jordan Valley. It was built by the Ayyubids in the 12th century and enlarged by the Mamluks in the 13th.
The name 'Ajlun goes back to a Christian monk who lived on this mountain in the Byzantine Period. The castle stands on the ruins of a monastery, traces of which were discovered during archaeological excavations.
The castle has been the nucleus of a settlement which has grown to become the present town of Ajloun. The castle's developing faubourg led to its second name, Qal'at ar-Rabad, "the castle of the faubourg" or "the castle with the suburbs". This name still resonates in the surname of a large and reputable Christian family owning most of the agricultural lands in the direct vicinity of the castle until this day, the Al-Rabadis.
My post processing analysis leads me to believe that I should have taken this photo at a little higher elevation. By doing so I would have captured more of the stream. But then it may have competed too much with the subject. I'm not crazy about the sky. I could fix it by adding a sky from my archives, but it is what it is. This is the way the day was. Cold and overcast. So thats the way the sky should be. Its a simple photo of a simple scene. Not an award winner by any means. More of a documentary of what I did and where I was, and what it was like.
I think the mundane has the potential delve deeper into your soul than a stunning colorful image. They please for the moment, eye candy if you may. Beautiful but shallow. Whereas a moody photo can strike a chord deep inside that resonates with lost feeling looking for an avenue of expression.
The following is excerpts from the Magnolia website about The History of The Old Church:
"The Silos is our home base here in Waco, Texas. The pair of old silos that have come to define our grounds are also symbolic of our city and its rich history, and we’ve always loved having that tie to Waco’s past. So we knew we wanted the expansion to include more of our city’s history, including something that could anchor the entire property. We found that in The Old Church, one of the oldest structures in Waco.
The building’s historical charm isn’t the only thing we’re drawn to. The Old Church holds a unique story of something old being made new—a story that resonates with us time and again. We learned about the abandoned church a few years ago when Jo took a drive downtown to clear her head. It can be endearing how, even when we’re not actively looking, there is always beauty somewhere, ready to be discovered. This particular time, it happened to be an old church’s steeple peeking above the trees that caught Jo’s attention. As she got closer, she was immediately drawn to the building with its white clapboard exterior, scalloped shingles, and cathedral ceilings. Built in 1894, the original church served as a house of worship for almost a century, but eventually closed and remained boarded-up and vacant for over 30 years. Despite its shattered windows and peeling paint, in that moment Jo saw unwavering potential in this place.
Chip & Jo agreed that the historic building couldn’t be left to fall apart, so they decided to purchase it. They’ve held onto it for years, patient and expectant for its new purpose to become clear. Once we decided that we wanted The Old Church to make its new home on the Silos grounds, Chip & Jo learned that the existing foundation and rotted framing were not structurally sound enough to make the move. So while a brand new frame and foundation were built at the Silos, the historical elements that could be preserved were relocated piece by piece and incorporated back into the design, including the interior flooring, wainscoting, corbels, beams, trimwork, pews, and a good portion of the exterior siding and lattice work. Because the old windows were disintegrating, new replicas were made that honored their original beauty. We can’t wait for you to step inside and take in all the beauty this place has to offer."
