This is more of a symbol of shock and hope than a good photo.
Less than 10 years ago I took this image in Kyiv. Its a shot across Liberation Square, from one Ukrainian church tower to another. I was honoured to be invited there for work. My wife was with me and we happily wandered around the old city at the Weekend. The atmosphere was suggestive of Paris. How things have changed! What a sad a terrible day it is with rockets falling on this and other cities in Ukraine as I type. War is a failure in politics and understanding on all sides. Does it ever resolve anything? Or does it just raise the next generation of problems?
the reason people find it hard to be happy is they see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be.

I have a feeling that in these days many people realize what is really important in their lives. Now make a resolve and follow it up!
I found this small slice of shadow to rest beneath on the first real hike of the season. Compared to last year, I am very out of trail shape. I knew that going into it, but I underestimated recovery.
The hike itself was pretty easy and I didn't overdo it. I rested a lot and took it pretty slowly. But also, I did over nine miles over some pretty rough terrain.
It's a whole damn thing, but I've been resting since. I had another hike planned for this weekend, but I'm holding off.
Anyway, there were some really lovely flowers out and I got a few photos of them here and there. You'll see. Also, it was nice to see some actual, mostly native shrub-steppe since so much has been lost to invasive species and farming.

I'm in that portrait-focused stretch, it seems. Even when I took a pause from shooting raws of others to do a blog post, I took a portrait. I guess it's some kinda zone. At least it's in color?

"According to North American Native tradition, the Blue Heron brings messages of self-determination and self-reliance. They represent an ability to progress and evolve. The long thin legs of the heron reflect that an individual doesn't need great massive pillars to remain stable, but must be able to stand on one's own."

Despite the very grey sky, this was a great show. The markings on the side of the plane ahead of the cockpit are flags of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each flag marking a (free) display the aircraft gave in support of Health workers during the pandemic. On the other side are flags to represent the displays made over hospitals in England - over 250 such across the UK. The light patches behind the cockpit are the hand painted names sponsored by donors to raise money for the charity NHS Together. Interesting that the flags can be resolved by this camera but the names cannot!

Here the race for the fish is resolved and the winner prepares for the feast while the loser flies off in search of another meal.
This was taken looking up from inside the house.
I had to go back to find something to post. Our weather has been a mixed bag of snow, freezing rain, cold and melting and pretty much a rare day when the sun is out. Walking and driving conditions have been treacherous and to top it off I have had severe knee pain caused by a cyst at the back of my knee, a side effect from arthritis and overdoing my resolve to walk more.
Made a simiplification in the border, with many thanks to the very talented ©arlein, who has a great eye and a wonderful stream, if you don't know it, check it out.
comment please
(So I'm obsessed with books. We have a HUGE book sale in October where there's books for a dollar and I like to refer to it as my Christmas lol.
I procrastinated on doing this: firstly because I wanted to avoid light, because I'm favoring sun flares, and secondly because I was watching Gray's Anatomy
I just couldn't keep my face still at that aperture : /
I might replace this on a second attempt later but I'm too tired from school to bother with it any more tonight
-also, I'm resolved to not square crop the next one - shooting in 620 makes me think in squares)
Either would be nice.

amidst the towering architecture of munich, a lone orthodox jewish man strides forward with a sense of purpose, casting a sharp silhouette against the cold, imposing stone of the building. the stark lines and grid-like windows frame his path, juxtaposing the rigidity of the man-made structure with the fluidity of human motion. this scene captures the eternal struggle between the abstract beliefs that drive us and the concrete realities we navigate daily. the interplay of light and shadow, of human and architecture, creates a moment of introspection and resolve.

Those were the days! Not that distant. Well..., they shall be surely restored soon. We just need to be perseverant with our affection and care in the form healthy distance between ourselves and defeat the virus that has infested not only our bodies but our minds as well. Join hands (not literally but figuratively) to fight Covid-19.
As the resolved warriors of Gondor move cautiously forward through the ruins, the echoes of the last attack continue to thunder in their ears.
A statue stands with the upper half obliterated, as if in mute testimony that the men of the past are no help to them now.
Saruman's forces have arrived. If the little that is left of all they hold dear is to survive, these men must fight.
